That would be a surprise if she heads to the cold weather area. Also a surprise if she achieves anything higher than moderate success, should she make the switch. But, LG did have a couple of good years when she left.

I agree that she could be a fun player to watch, but come on, a starter for 2 1/2 years on a team the caliber of SC should improve noticeably. She hasn't. Bricio and Lanier could have been wonderful roll models, but she continued to try to slam kills through blocks. While she was occasionally successful with that strategy, some touch would have worked wonders frequently. Her decision to transfer shows two things: 1, she wants to play, and 2, she knows her court time for USC is very limited. I doubt Crouch told her that, but she was able to see others are accomplishing more, and hopefully she noticed they also are team people who inspire the team. She mentioned to someone we know in common that she wanted to "kill it in the B1G" like another transfer from USC to one of those schools did. LOL Clearly there are some B1G teams where she could transfer and be a BIG fish in a small pond. She would start and would not be pulled because her backup would be significantly weaker. Of course, these teams have no chance at winning the B1G much less making a deep run into the NCAA tournament.

So big questions for me: Is Wilhite able to step in and contribute at the beginning of next season? Will LeGrand finally live up to her billing and earn court time? (If so, can she unseat Garrick or Adams?) Will Krage be able to down a RS spot? Is Botkin going to RS, staying on the left? Will Schirmer be able to step in as Frosh?
The only things that seem clear to me at all are: Lanier and Gross start, lol.
Lots of talent, lots of questions.

Garrick stays at libero, if Lexi comes in, no DS will be used. Botkin > Krage. All depends on Lexi if Botkin stays left or goes right. Schirmer will not be ready. I don't think she touches high enough to be an effective attacker, especially not initially. She MAY be at 10'. Great arm though, will need time to figure out what other shots she has.

Abby Hansen is a stud. Never thought SC will ever get two dynamic middles in the same season ever again. Crouch is one lucky coach. Hansen’s step Outs are nasty good. she is very agile for being 6’4. USC finally has two middles that can hit the slide. This will just free up Lanier and hopefully Sun.

I don't keep up with the incoming freshmen very well, but I hear some great things about this class. LeGrand is a huge puzzle piece for me though. I thought she was the next very strong Libero for SC, but it didn't happen. Maybe a fresh staff will make a difference with her, I don't know. What I can say though is that USC s possibly average in that position right now, and with the history there, we should have top talent. The Trojans will have a very strong 2 rotation middle, hitters beyond strong (Lanier, Botkin, Sun(?), Krage or a hot shot freshman. Setting is hopefully Rene and Marina. Lanier will be a 6 rotation player, and I expect Sun gets a strong look as well. I am convinced she's heading USC's way, so until I'm shown to be wrong, I'll stick with that. When do they get into spring practice, or have they started? If they are underway, someone needs to head over and see what's going on.

On the uscwomensvolley insta they posted a few clips and photos of the team practicing. It looks like Botkin has already transitioned to right side with Krage still on the left. Pending Sun Transfer I presume.

Pending Sun Transfer I presume. When Lexi joins the team in August I think she'll step in and play seamlessly. The main thing is develop her passing, but be prepared to hide her under tough serving conditions.

USC finally has two middles that can hit the slide. This will just free up Lanier and hopefully Sun. If Crouch runs a 5-1, or uses some different routes, like they do at Oregon. Otherwise there aren’t many slides in a 6-2. Maybe if Botkin sets from the front, one MB could slide in 2 rotations. Otherwise, I think they have to try to maximize the step-outs if Hansen and Gross are so dynamic behind the setter.
