...as soon as one or two of the middles stops playing timidly, they'll earn back that starting spot, but they NEED to learn how to stop playing timid first! You definitely cannot throw in timid middles against a USC or a Nebraska or a Washington in the NCAA's! You're definitely right about that point, IB. At least in my opinion. Prince does not play timidly; hence she has one middle spot sewn up. Of the other three who are vying for the M2 spot, I'd say right now that Kari plays with the least timidity. Juliana and Melody are about even but in different ways. Juliana seems afraid to make mistakes or afraid of the consequences of making mistakes. She will look over to the bench with a sheepish look on her face after every miscue of hers. Melody doesn't seem so much to be timid, just lacking in assertiveness. Hopefully, one (or better yet, all) of them will step up during the remainder of the season. For that reason, I would not be worried about continued tinkering with the lineup for now.

This is exactly what I don't like about Sanders. Her face is an open book, and not in a good way like Hittle's. Hittle shows excitement and energy, but never looks down. Sanders ALWAYS grimaces, looks at the bench, or looks frustrated following a mistake. I feel like it sends a message to the opponent that she is vulnerable. Arnott is the most poker-faced player on the squad. Nothing seems to rattle her.

She looks like she could not kill a cockroach. When she runs out of the court when being subbed, she glides, so gracefully and very effeminately, not good attributes for an athlete.

Why? I don't agree with setting a lineup in the case Hawaii has this year. Everyone is improving drastically fighting for playing time, each player has their strengths and weaknesses that are being developed further and assessed vs. other teams. At some point this season, they might need player x's such n such more than player y's. If they keep rotating lineups, and keep winning, what's wrong with giving so many players experience and playing time? Stats don't matter on this team, they've been out killed and out dug the majority of the matches this season. They continue to play with heart and having fun out there, although a few positions are struggling a little mentally with the possibility of being pulled...as soon as one or two of the middles stops playing timidly, they'll earn back that starting spot, but they NEED to learn how to stop playing timid first! You definitely cannot throw in timid middles against a USC or a Nebraska or a Washington in the NCAA's! The one major cog to the success that UH has had this season is most definitely the charming and savvy Kamana'o. Everyone else has been up and down, but she has been spectacular throughout and finds ways for this team to win. Sure give all who are worthy a chance to win a starting spot. But I liked what Dave and co. did last night, giving the current starters more than a game to really play together and gel ... before making wholesale substitutions.
