Here is what I saw last night. - The body language between RR and Salima looked strained. Saw them chirping at eachother a few times. - If Lee wants to lead this team, is has to start on the court, great talent way too unpredictable. - Washington and Franti both looked bad, Franti is not a 6 rotation in the Penn State mold, and Washington is slowing down laterally, and does not get set well or enough. - who is the leader? - setting is just bad, way to many trap sets resulting in nasty blocks. - White can pass, which makes the setting look even worse. - Tori Gorrell looked good, let her play do the talking. - The Right side position is not scaring other teams, regardless of stats. Lots of hard work ahead for these girls, no way RR goes down without a fight. I have only really watched Penn State since around 08, and this to me is clearly his biggest challenge. Observations: 1. Lee should not be jump serving. 2. Washington's blocking technique needs an overhaul. 3. Frantti's passing was ok last night, but she's not a 2 person serve receive stud. 4. I like PSU's L play. 5. Lee and Frantti are good pin hitters but they just need to cut down on the unforced errors. 6. Setting problem is hard to fix. Everything is run through the setter. Without a quality one which I've never experienced until now cause started watching in glass era they have big hole. I think the only jump server I've seen on psu in last while was Hancock but she did something with it. I've always tried to imagine how much of a nightmare it would be for teams if Hancock and bricio were on same team. Could u imagine that?

What are Rivera's strengths and weaknesses? I actually consider PSU MY second favorite team in the BIG. I am a bit surprised at the problems they are encountering. It was bound to happen at some point, but I doubt it w will last very long. I don't see them ever being as dominant as they were; after all the landscape has changed and the BIG is deeper than ever. I don't believe any team will dominate at the level PSU did

I like nylines assessment that psu doesn't have a team stacked with all Americans like they had had. That they use to say here's what were gonna do now try and stop us. They are definatley searching for a identity. I think that's gonna be hard to do continuing to rotate setters in and out. They need to decide on one and just roll with it. Whatever happens, happens. If u want consistency the same players need to be out there together building confidence with one another. Is gabby blossom gonna be the one to get psu straight again? I can only hope

Just re-watched the Stanford/PSU match... a couple things. The only thing Detering brings to the floor is that she attacks hard and often, other than that I see no difference with her connection with the hitters than Weisckercher. This PSU team isn't bad at all, just need to stay mentally focused. Also, is White, a freshmen really their team captain? IMO that says a lot to how Rose feels about his upperclassmen doesn't it?

If Deterings' connection is as good as Weiskicher now that should say something. Bryanna has had a year head start and still isn't better?

White is not a captain, just a very vocal freshman who carries herself like an upperclassman.

Weiskircher has actually had 2 full years with the team (she redshirted as a freshman, but still ran the 2nd team in practice). I'm hoping Russ can work his magic with one of them by the time the tourney starts.

On the flip side, she's short (hitters hit over her) and sets too quickly for some hitters.

They need to try someone else in Frantti spot. This is second straight year she's just not getting it done and her serve/receive is atrocious. It can't get any worse could it? I say give powers and demure a shot.

Rose said. “Not every experience is a good one but every experience is valuable.”

Would hope neither coach is happy. So, snipping is fine in my book. They want to win, and aren't interested in mediocrity.
