My predicted lineup. OH: Strizak/Quade M: Bastianelli/Stadick RS: Crittenden L; Donnelly DS: Davis and Welsh For 2016 I'm thinking Ali B, Naya, and Jordyn will have big years for the Illini. Bastianelli has grown quite quickly as of late and I think she will be better than Stadick next season. Naya also is making a name for herself at Illinois and maybe might become a better RS than Liz. I think we are going to rely on Naya a lot next year. As for Poulter I think confidence was an issue this season. It'll maybe be different now that Alexis will be graduated, sometimes I felt like Poulter felt bad for taking Alexis' spot. really want Poulter to being a whole lot offensive next year, and get better at digging. I think Quade can possibly be the answer Illinois has been looking for she is a good oos hitter. And I think we need that from one of our outsides. Strizak or Roustio is not too great at oos. I agree with your lineup except I think that the OHs will be some combination of Prince/Roustio/Strizak.

If Caroline Welsh is in fact joining the Illini...I think she will challenge for the libero position. She seems to be more of a natural libero than Donnelly. Don't get me wrong, I really love Donnelly...I think it is more like the situation that Wisconsin faced when Morey joined the Badgers and senior Hickey was the obvious choice for libero. Both players were excellent liberos. Just don't count out the newcomer!

I think Julia Conard was greatt his year and she could have even been the libero. Illini future DS in Lexie Smith and Morgan O'brien are really solid recruits. Morgan O'Brien along with Megan Cooney were on the all american 2015 sophomore team.

I have not heard anything that she has changed her mind for whatever reason.

From what I know Welsh and Gereau are both coming as walk ons and they can't be talked about by the coaching staff publicly until they are officially accepted into the school which I think at the earliest is Feb.

I really doubt Donnelley would lose her spot. She's a stud.

On a completely different note (and looking back to 1996 rather than ahead to 2016), I saw former Illini Laura Haselhorst at dinner last night. Almost as exciting as getting to play against Michelle Bartsch four years ago when she subbed for at team in our Tuesday night league. Always fun to see former players out in public.

I really doubt Donnelley would lose her spot. She's a stud. She was a stud freshman year. This year she under performed IMO. I was at the MN/IL sweet 16 game and was not impressed. Maybe it was an off night for her. You watched one match ? She's a stud. She had 530 digs on the season. She's not losing her spot any time soon.

"Class of 2017 commits Kylie Kuyava-DeBerg, Tyanna Omazic and Marijke Van Dyke were part of PrepVolleyball’s top 50, while Megan Cooney was among those listed in the “next 35.”- according to News Gazette, not too shabby. Tyanna and Megan are big recruits for Illinois.

I am missing collegiate volleyball already. Anyone know when spring practices start? Have they released the spring tournament schedule?

Any word on a third middle? If we can't find a transfer, is there anyone on the roster who could learn the position for emergencies? Naya hits with the wrong hand and was becoming a viable option on the right side. Is this something that would be worked on during the spring?
