Stanford must have played like two different teams against USC and UCLA. They looked horrible in their televised match against USC. Couldn't do anything well. Then they come back and beat UCLA the next day? Unless USC is that much better than UCLA (which is a possibility).

Obviously stepped up their passing and defense.

What is it about Stanford that Ucla tends to freeze and not do well. I know they are good. But what is it that St. Mary's has that say, Ucla and some of these other teams don't have that causes them to lose to them?

The differences being that both SoCal teams didn't lose on the same night that weekend. Plus, UW was the higher ranked team in both of its matchups that weekend. Actually, UW was still ranked below USC. And while UW was ranked ahead of UCLA, it should be noted that USC and UCLA were picked by coaches in the preseason to finish 1 and 2 in conference. With UW picked 3rd. Although UCLA had started to underperform at this point.

Well - the St Mary's team I saw demolish Pepperdine played incredible back-row defense. Everyone on the floor for them was at worst a "good" digger/passer. Also - nobody gave up and their team timing/positioning was excellent. I don't know what Jon Stevenson has done with his team, but apparently he has them believing that they can beat anyone. Again. Human beings with human preparations and human failings. These aren't robots playing a game with a predetermined outcome.

Also, Kaui Saltzman is an incredible player. I think at one point one of those games she scored 18 kills!

Does anyone have this match on tape? The Stanford and UCLA game that is.. There have been no indications that it was taped for broadcast. So in that case the only likelihood is that it was taped by the participating schools. Good luck.

For some reason I thought they were saying both were being taped, with USC and UCLA

For some reason I thought they were saying both were being taped, with USC and UCLA Only one UCLA home match is scheduled to be televised, although I believe there are "wildcard" possibilities at the end of the season. USC's schedule says that UCLA at USC is being televised next week on FCSP.
