Don't count New Trier out yet. Their three loses this season were to GBN, the state runner-up from MO, and a rough loss to Barrington at the DGS tournament last weekend. They're young and continuing to mesh.

The GBN vs. New Trier sectional will be exciting to watch. Sandburg vs. Brother Rice will be interesting as well.

Reason for the lack of coverage is that neither of the two major papers cover high schools that much anymore. The Sun-Times is only football and boys basketball after they stopped using freelancers and sale of the suburban papers to the Tribune. The Tribune rarely ever did spring sports outside of the state playoffs, etc. There's also been talk that the Trib will only be doing suburban sports next year since they have the Pioneer Press, Southtown, etc. Phil is with the Daily Herald now. Glad someone has put together a thread on this topic... I always enjoy hearing what people think on the topic! I've been bummed at the lack of articles/rankings posted through various news sources that had done so in years past. Phil Brozynski used to always keep a running ranking through the Sun-Times, but he seems to not be doing so this season for some reason. Very curious to see if anyone can touch Glenbard West. The amount of talent on that team is incredible.

Glenbrook North is a highly athletic team with strong offensive options and a scrappy defense. They were a solid #2 team at the tournament this past weekend. Glenbard West played one of its best games -- and its hard to beat Glenbard West on an average day let alone when is playing at its best. Look for Glenbrook North to be downstate. I remember the GBN 2012 state runner up team winning the Smack Attack.

Who are the top players for New Trier and Brother Rice, and what clubs do they play for?

Good thread, but rankings mean nothing in IHSA as only 2 or 3 of those top teams will actually be at Hoffman.
My thought process is to get to your final 32 teams and go from there (Quarterfinal Order in place below for Sectional Winners)
LW East Sectional O'Fallon Edwardsville LW East Minooka
Evanston Sectional New Trier GBN Evanston Loyola
Guerin Sectional St. Patrick Payton Von Stueben Leyden
Barrington Sectional Barrington Deerfield Lake Zurich Buffalo Grove
St Laurence Sectional Brother Rice Marist Sandburg St. Rita
St. Ignatius Sectional Lyons York Hinsdale Central Hinsdale South
Glenbard West Sectional Glenbard West WWS West Aurora Glenbard East
Lake Park Sectional Glenbard North Lake Park Jefferson Lutheran

Any feedback on the Sanburg/WWS game last night? WWS is certainly a tough competitive team coming out of the Glenbard West Sectional

Lincoln Way East won their own tourney, with Sandburg finishing 2nd. Glenbard West easily won the Benet tourney, with Benet taking 2nd. Very good action at both.
