Will another school hire Ken? Google him. He's radioactive. After this he will be selling fruit down by the river.

They need a TOTAL HOUSE CLEANING on the coaching staff. Wait- Lindsey was just hired in Feb and did not arrive on campus until early March. I doubt she had anything to do with prior complaints or new issues as she was just getting her feet wet. New HC should get that call. By naming her Interim the administration must believe she can manage the day to day and be a person the players trust. Whether right or wrong, the rest of the staff who had been with Ken are most likely gone. Otherwise why promote the newly hired with minimal experience to that role. But wasn't she fired at Bradley? Not a stellar way to start by WF by naming interim head coach to someone who just got the 2nd Assistant job, but was fired by her previous employer. What's going on with the AD or SWA decision? Strange, as WF is a solid University.

The Athletic Director needs to be terminated also. For plenty of reasons other than this though

A former player shared this
From one of my closest and most trusted friends, please read and share this positive encounter with Coach Ken Murczek.
"There are two sides to every story and I wish I could have gotten mine out sooner. I had the privilege of playing for Ken starting at the beginning of my Junior spring when I had completely lost my love and passion for the sport of volleyball. I went from loving volleyball more than anything in the world to just wanting to get it over with and graduate, until February 6, 2013 (I remember because it was my 21st bday...my teammates will remember this vividly.) I will never forget at the end of spring season we were leaving our last game at UNC Greensboro and I broke down in tears because I had had the best semester of my life and Ken and his staff were the main reason for this. I didn't dread going to practice anymore and running was a form of getting us in shape not as a punishment, to note I was in the best shape of my life after that season. My teammates know that my weight has been something I have struggled with my entire life and most of those insecurities have come from previous coaches. Before we left for summer break we had exit meetings with Ken letting him know our goals for the summer. I immediately said "I want to lose 10lbs before I come back" because I just assumed that is what he wanted to hear. He looked at me and kid you not said "what are you talking about? I don't care how much you weigh, I only care that you come back in July feeling good and maybe add an inch or two to your vertical." I cried again. I had my best season my senior year even when my body was broken down and worn out from years of club, high school, and college seasons, and that had everything to do with me wanting to get better for my team and my coach. I know I am going to receive some heat from some of my teammates (and parents but honestly parents stay out of this your kids are in college now let them fly) who will say I only played for Ken for a year. This is true. But again there are two sides to every story and I want everyone to know my experience and I know I am not the only one who felt this way, I am just the only one who is willing to step up, even if it is too late. These accusations seem so outrageous to me and it is so hard for me to wrap my head around them. Was Ken hard? Of course but I didn't sign up to play D1 volleyball for a soft coach. I have been graduated for 2 years now and have to say, if you can't survive 4 years of being a student-athlete, there is no way in hell you are making it in the real world where instead of running being your punishment, not having an income is your new reality. I want to make a point that I feel is lost on my generation; playing a D1 sport in the ACC is a PRIVILEGE not a right. Having a full scholarship for 4 years shouldn't be expected, it is a job that you need to work every single day at in order to keep!!!!!! I have always wanted to coach and people always ask why I haven't gotten into it and this right here is a prime example. Entitled players and overbearing parents. I will end on this, I was lucky enough to have a lot of really great coaches all FOUR years at Wake who have helped shaped me into the woman I am today, and for that I thank you ALL. To my teammates, I love you all and I hope you know this little Facebook rant was not to target anyone but to enlightened people on how everyone's experience is different and simply put Ken made my last season as a Deacon pretty great. And for that I thank you, Ken." #GoDeacs #DeltaVolley

This coach will be gone before next season. Wake Forest is a fine school with a good athletic tradition, a new coach should be easy to find
Murczek had two 0.500 season with a bad 2015. Heather Kohl Holmes was there for eight years and had three winning seasons with some horrid years in there. A fine athletic volleyball tradition indeed. Chances are they will want to bury the program and forget about it. So they will hire someone, let them stew without support and the fire them after 3-5 years.

If I am running Wake Forest I approach assistant coach's from Penn St., Texas, Stanford, Nebraska and Illinois to see if anyone shows interest. Good luck with that.

They have 6 kids listed as incoming freshman. And it is a solid class. New coach will at least have some young talent to build with.

Sad all the way around. Coach and family, the players and families, WFU, and women's volleyball in general all are impacted. I do not condone demeaning and denigrating behavior in any form, yet I feel equally sorry for all affected. Hopefully, all parties can now move on and move forward.

I doubt any coach with value would go anywhere near that job, with good reason. What a fiasco. Rotten administration, weak athletic department, inferior volleyball program that is a cellar-dweller in its conference, mixed with all of the other issues. A lot of healing needs to go on there, combined with a fresh start. Does the administration have the stomach and the competence to handle such a challenging task? It's doubtful, based on their track record.
They will either get a veteran, retread coach who wouldn't get hired anywhere else to carry out their on-the-job-retirement to cash a paycheck. Or a very young complete unknown who probably wouldn't be hired by 99.9% of the other Division I power conference programs.

I would think they would look for someone with experience handling this type of situation.
So...Andrew Palileo.

Surprised he held on to his job as long as he did which makes me think he "resigned". Conclusion, if you are a good coach with a solid history of making college athletics a great experience for your athletes and one disgruntled athlete can derail your career or cost you your job. If you have a history of being a jerk and a bunch of your athletes take their case to the administration you may actually get to keep your job a little longer as long as you behave and actually continue to get hired other places. I've been doing it all wrong. Recent Examples: *Should still be at VCU-James Finley UC-Reed Sunahara (although I still don't know why exactly he was removed) ======== *Got jobs after being jerks WFU-Ken Murczek Wherever the Shepherdson's are coaching
I mean how the hell do these jerk coaches keep getting jobs while great coaches and even better people can't even get a second interview. Makes me want set fires to things.
Edit: I hope that clears it up. James and Reed are both class acts. They have both landed in their feet and are doing good work at Seattle and WVU respectively.
