Recent post from the World of Volleyball web site. Destinee Hooker in training thinks she can regain her physical conditioning in time to compete for a spot on the RIO 16 team. Does she deserve a second chance? Have a divorce and two kids mellowed Destinee sufficiently to make her pliable enough for Karch Kiraly to handle? Is an Olympic team really the domain of the coach or is there a larger patriotic responsibility to all American athletes who have the skill to compete? Wake up Karch. Gold is the goal, not the making of Best friends for life.

If the rumors about her departure from the national team are remotely true, it sounds that any sort of reconciliation is going to have to begin with someone, either Destinee or Karch, stepping up and saying they were wrong and apologizing. It's going to require humility.
What Destinee's been through the past several years - getting out of an abusive marriage, her ex continuing to harass and steal from her, being cut from her PR team, getting back in shape and going to Korea only to blow up her ankle, recovering from that, and having not one but two children - even half of those experiences will humble and mature anyone.
I hope this article is true and Destinee gets a chance to prove herself back in the USA gym. She's a really talented player.

Wake up Karch. Gold is the goal, not the making of Best friends for life. I say this all the time at work. Some people let their opinions on people affect them. Me, I don't care. I could hate your personality and beliefs but if you work hard and get your job done, then we can work together. On the flip side, sometimes my best friends have the worst work ethic/ job performance. As to Wingoz, this is international volleyball and the US is missing a superior OPP.

Well, the Twitter feed cited in the article, "usantvolleyball," is not an official Team USA site. Looks like it just shares links about NT players. So my guess would be no.

Destiny Hooker is no different than anyone else, so is Karch. I am certain they have both learned a few things from their experiences. If Hooker is healthy and on her game, then yes, absolutely you give that an honest effort.
A more mature, responsible, version of Destiny playing for USA, would be a good thing to see. The girl is JUST NASTY on a vball court.
Turn it around, does China, Brazil or Russia want to face a healthy and happy Destiny Hooker?

You guys are like those whining high school parents at games that the rest of us find so damn annoying. I trust Karch to make the right decision for the team . Obviously since her dramatic departure the US team has done pretty well. Lets be honest. She has been a mess. Only the coach can decide if that attitude has improved and will it have an adverse affect on the team. Its not your right to play on a team, its a privilege no matter how talented you are. Peyton Manning should have taught all of you something. That being a good teammate and having integrity in sports is important. Look at the legacy he is leaving that means much more than " He was a damn good player."

Nice speech. Except the part about Peyton, who is an absolute jerk. As are 95% of all football players.

Look at the legacy he is leaving that means much more than " He was a damn good player." Manning sexually assaulted a female trainer but got away because of his family name. Manning had the balls to write book about it then got sued and had to pay the woman. People are so obsessed with players like Manning because he could throw a damn football. Archie was a dick when he played.

But what a great story if she came back and helped the team win gold!

Not so sure about that, I have personally known many football players with great character and intensity. The problem is the sport and it's infrastructure more than the athlete's. Football really is a sport where you are chattel. The average career is about 18 months. The money and contracts are hardly ever guaranteed, and the injury rate is obscene.
Take a look at the average SAT or ACT scores of football players as opposed to other sports, the culture sucks. It will make you proud to be a fan of NCAA volleyball in comparison.
