This match was a roller coaster ride I wasn't prepared for. I finished watching earlier but haven't had a chance to comment. It's good to overcome adversity and have a match like this under our belts going forward.
Glass, her setting continues to be questionable. I feel like our middles are always adjusting to her she puts them out of position. She really played good defense to end the match though so I won't criticize her too much she redeemed herself late in the match when it counted the most. Also there were a couple times she went outside on free ball opportunities and I really wish she would set our middles more but maybe she doesn't feel confident setting them, cause her timing and placement is off.
Foluke and Murphy were offensive beasts. The former being the stud she always is but Murphy really came alive. I have been a tough critic of her in the past but she proved her worth today. I am not sure where everyone is drawing the conclusion that Lowe is awful she played for all of what 5 points, she came in cold and stayed cold but I wouldn't draw too much of a conclusion from that.
The serving needs to be better. I love that they bring Robinson in for passing she is truly great at it and she has done a good job in the back row. Our girls really need to clean up somethings but I think what's being lost in this discussion is how good the Netherlands was on the other side of the net. They were playing fantastic volleyball. If we can win when another team plays their best and come from behind that means good things going forward.

A win is a win. I hope that Glass can just focus on the future and improve her connection. Her effort on defense was fantastic. Foluke and Murphy were amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed watching them come alive. Also, I think Robinson really adds depth to the back row and contributed when she was in. Improvement in consistency will need to happen, but overall it was a fun match to watch.

Not liking this 2 challenges per set thing. Coaches using it as free timeouts, and now my network is starting to play commercials during the timeouts. Is it two per set or two rejected per set and unlimited positives? Exactly. Maximum 2 rejected per set. If you win, it doesn't count against you.

For a Karchee I'm surprised he hasn't kept you in the loop. Your dog whistle criticism of Hooker and by implication Tom is also by default an indictment of Hugh. All this nonsense talk about how team unity (kumbaya) somehow gives the USA an advantage must be part of your Karchee exceptionalism that blinds you to the team spirit on the Dutch, Brazilian, Korean, etc teams. They all are displaying the exact same spirit. And to bring you up to date on Hooker I will post a statement attributed to Karch and give you a link to the article. "Destinee Hooker, the biggest star of the Americans' second-place London group, had her second child since the last Olympics in March and is no longer part of the national team — though Kiraly has said the door isn't closed for a potential return in the next four-year cycle ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Games."finance.townhall.com/news/business/2016/06/24/when-youre-an-olympic-hopeful-and-a-mom-bring-the-kids-n2182978BTW this isn't posted on Reddit, but for you that probably makes no difference as you are blinded by your Trump enhanced biases. BLM This thread is about the 2016 Olympics... there's no need for negativity here. Sure Destinee is a great player, but she's not on this team and there's no need for even more drama.

I'm glad that Murphy (WHO WAS THE TEAM'S LEADING SCORER AND MOST CONSISTENT HITTER FOR TWO SEASONS IN A ROW BEFORE SHE GOT INJURED) finally proved her worth to you.

I like the new challenge system, pseudo-time outs or not. The matches are better because quite a number of tricky calls (and some not so tricky) are being made correctly even if it's after the fact. I would like to see this eventually trickle down to the college level. Is it safe to say that it would be tried first in the post season? What are the plans? BTW, I must say that it looks to me like the vast majority of challenges are upheld, which makes it seem like the refs are making lots of mistakes. Whether they like that or not, it should take some pressure off them because it reduces the chances of a bad call impacting a match win or loss.

I'm glad that Murphy (WHO WAS THE TEAM'S LEADING SCORER AND MOST CONSISTENT HITTER FOR TWO SEASONS IN A ROW BEFORE SHE GOT INJURED) finally proved her worth to you. Murphy will always be under a microscope because anyone who plays the position of OPP/RS for Team USA will be compared to Destinee, which isn't fair but it's the truth. Is Murphy as good as Hooker, probably not but that's just comparing two players who both play the same position for Team USA or who are potentially competing for the same spot on the roster. Now I won't beat a dead horse of whether or not Murphy is good enough to be on Team USA she has shown that to Karch and I trust his judgement most of the time. Coming back from injury is hard so me, I am sure like plenty of others had their doubts about whether or not Murphy has the goods. Also you telling me Murphy was the leading scorer for Team USA in 2013, 2014 seasons is kind of irrelevant. We are a year and a half since either of those seasons. That's a long ways out from that time. I am rooting for Murphy as well as Lowe to deliver the goods and be at their best because I like most others on this board are Team USA. She came through today in the back row and the front. I hope she continues that high level of play going forward. I am not anti-Murphy by any means.

They beat China and they almost beat the US, maybe they can beat Serbia too. In that case, perhaps we should look at Netherlands as the potential "upset" threat, more so than Serbia?
