Badgerbreath I want my cookie re: Purdue! ;-) Yep.. you were right! I guess the voters do think, and considered that Purdue had beaten Stanford and only had 1 loss to Stanford's 2.

I am surprised Texas A&M is still ranked to be honest. They don't have any strong wins. And I am surprised Hawaii is ranked that high. Hawaii will always be ranked in the top 16................. What does this mean? Hawai'i spent all of 2014 outside the top 16, and started last season outside the top 16. Is there a new rule in place that states they cannot drop below 16? I'm confused.

Please subscribe on YouTube to UHVolleyBallFanToo www.youtube.com/channel/UClhgqFVky_yXyc-pO9Nznfw a great resource for University of Hawai'i Athletics. Both Pepperdine matches are up. With Annie Mitchem at OH, Nikki can do her thing. Hawai'i will be very dangerous come post season. But first things first. Win the Big West.

In case you are wondering: The Pac-10 occupied the top three spots on 11/14/2011 - #1 USC, #2 UCLA, and #3 Cal You have to go back to 1985 for that to happen again and it was also the Pac-10 with UCLA, USC And Stanford in that order.

Pablo has had Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin as 1 - 3 in some order since the second week of the season.

I am surprised Texas A&M is still ranked to be honest. They don't have any strong wins. And I am surprised Hawaii is ranked that high. AVCA doesn't punish teams that much for losing to teams ranked above them, and not that much for some losses to teams ranked below (as long as they're ranked). So A&M starts the season ranked in the Top 15; loses to Nos. 2 (Texas), 5 (MN) and 6 (Wisc) (rankings at the time of the match), and also lose to 15 (OSU) and 16 (FSU), both 2-3. So, yeah, no good wins, but no bad losses I may not completely agree with it, but given how the AVCA poll often works, it's not surprising,. The AVCA poll, IMO, doesn't try to honestly rank who are the best teams in order (which would be a tough task). It ranks (1) results, combined with (2) previous rankings - thus the advantage of starting out ranked. It's a "movement" poll.

What's up with Barry Goldberg? Same top 10 as last week, with Kansas second, BYU third, and Wisconsin ninth? I thought he had submitted the same ballot as last week, but he shuffled a few teams from 11 through 25.

The guy is obviously a stupid voter.

I thought he had submitted the same ballot as last week, but he shuffled a few teams from 11 through 25. If you have a RichKern.com account, here is a good way to look at votes by individuals compared to how everyone else voted: www.richkern.com/vb/AVCAVoters/ByDistribution.asp?voter=Goldberg%2C+Barry&VBYear=2016&week=4~Sepx19&Div=DIThis example is for Coach Goldberg but you can select any other coach as well. Using this example, you can see that he is not fond of Minnesota or Wisconsin (#7 & #9) and really not fond of Hawaii (left out of poll). However, he does like Kansas at #2 and BYU at #3. If you click the number under the Total column, you can see how everyone voted for that team and who left them out.

To be fair, he did have them at #22 to start the season.
Rubio, otoh, has had them at #7 or #6 all year. So, to be fair to him too, he's sticking to his guns.
