It's expected that one of the MBs, possibly either Paggi or Anzanello, will be cut.....

What happened to Simona Gioli? Well, Italy is VERY deep in terms of MBs. She was in 18-player roster but did not make the cut. She's still under contract at Despar and projected to start this coming season. |

How has Togut been doing? She hasn't been in competition in what seems like forever, and with the recent success that Italy has had without her, does that mean that if she is back for the Olympics than Italy becomes a contender as well? Hopefully she can comeback at full strength because she adds a tremendous offensive threat for the Italian team.

sisam, have you been able to watch the friendly matches between italy and cuba? just wondering if you are getting the matches there. cos it seems like cuba's Ramirez has picked up an injury when she and a teammate ran into each other and i haven't heard if either fernandez or ramirez are ok now.

The italian channels I get have not been showing these matches unfortunately. They do not even have the rosters of who played in the last match at vb.it only that Italy won 3-2. Will post if I do hear sthg...
As for Togut, they have kept her out of the line-ups to make sure that she was fully healed. She certainly is an asset for any team and will contribute to Italy big time whenever her services are required. However, I personally do not see them as contenders for the title, even with her, despite the recent success. OG is a different ball game than GP or the MVM.

Paggi gets the nod over Anzanello for the 3rd MB position on Italy's OG roster, mainly thanks to her recent performances vs Cuba.
So on a breakdown by position Italy's roster becomes:
Setters: Lo Bianco, Ferretti
Opposites: Togut, Centoni
OHs: Piccinini, Rinieri, Del Core, Secolo
MBs: Leggeri, Barazza, Paggi
Libero: Cardullo
