What I think might be helpful here is to provide a template:
University XYZ is in need of a (position) for the 2017 season. (Partial/Full) Scholarship available. Athletes with their release should PM poster or email them at 12345@university.edu.
Something like this encourages consistency as well as following the appropriate protocol. Coaches are going to put feelers out for transfers to fill in holes on their rosters, and this is just another resource for them to use. Heck, when schools in the Big 10 and schools in the running for an NCAA bid are using this board to look for leads, we should take it as a compliment and help them to go about getting the players they need.
The other thing about a template is that it discourages poaching. You're mentioning a need for a position, not a specific player from a specific school that you'd like to bring in.

What I took issue with was the claim that the existence of this thread was facilitating poaching, encouraging players to transfer where they wouldn't otherwise, and/or encouraging recruiting violations. My point was that as long as I've been on VT, I've seen posts of the coaches seeking transfers variety. The only difference is that now there's a dedicated thread. Your point does not make the initial claim less true. The initial claim was someone stating an opinion; it can't be true anyway. A. A Volleytalk thread or post of any kind will never have the effect that is claimed. No happy athlete or parent of an athlete not looking to transfer will ever come here, open a transfer thread, be so persuaded by the words that they can't resist contacting the coach, obtaining a release, sending the release, booking a flight to the new school, touring, signing a scholarship offer, and moving. That doesn't happen. Guaranteed. Anyone who believes otherwise probably needs to get out into the world a little bit. B. Threads like these DO help athletes who are already looking to transfer. C. The negative stigma of transferring is disgusting. It happens. Get over it. If you're so upset that someone you don't know, have never met, don't know ANY of the personal situation details of, etc is choosing to pursue a different opportunity and that upsets you, you seriously need actual mental help because your need to control things that do not affect your life in any way (ANY WAY at all. literally not one facet of any of our lives are affected by transfers unless we are the involved parties) is pathetic. D. I found my current job based on an online posting I saw. Why was that not frowned upon? I changed my mind about what I wanted to major in 5 times while in college; nobody gave me grief. Why are these student athletes not allowed to choose to finish their education and athletic career at a different school than where they start it? Non-athletes do it all the time, no problem; why is there such a negative stigma attached when a student-athlete does it? E. Never try to pull the "I was taught to finish what I started" card. You have no idea the situation of the athlete or coach you're trying to interfere with the lives of. (And actually, athletes looking to transfer are looking to finish what they started, are they not? They're literally actively looking for a place to finish their volleyball career while also earning a degree.) (Also, those of you who say that likely raised this generation that you claim doesn't want to finish anything they start, are lazy, entitled, etc - so by making such a statement, you're really just making a sweeping generalization about your OWN generation, which includes you.)

I hope that anyone looking to transfer finds what they didnt find at their previous school. its a difficult and stressful thing to do.

And see, now people are loosely following the suggested format. Most posters are asking for a release/P2C.
This is working.
