Looking at this bracket:
Nebraska gets a nice draw. The Huskers should roll pretty easily next weekend.
Penn State gets a pillow fight. Unless Dayton is way better than I think. Not sure why the Flyers aren't in Ann Arbor to be honest.
Michigan State has to be happy. Arizona could put up a fight if they play the way they can, but I'm taking Sparty.
Washington gets out, but has the hardest draw. Kentucky/CSU will be one of the best opening round matches. If Leah Edmond gets it going, Kentucky could surprise.
Overall, I see this going chalk and being a 1-16 vs 8-9 regional.

As John Cook said, 9 of last 11 champions in this bracket... That's deceiving cause PSU has 7 of them and a 8th is them. Lol Six. Nebraska has two and Washington 1.

You're assuming Nebraska can get past Penn State? Penn State will be lucky to make it past Pitt, as much as it pains me to say that. Playing them at home? Not sure I buy that. We've been tough at home all year. Now having to play the Huskers in Nebraska? That's another story. Is it too late to trade for Sandbothe?

It's a nice laugh-line from Cook, but I'm not sure what relevance the 2005 Huskies have to the difficulty of the bracket. Nebraska will handle them pretty easily if the a Huskies make it that far. I may be in the minority among Huskies fans, but the #8 seed feels about right to me. This team gets stuck in bad rotations a lot and often takes sets off (especially the second set for some reason). I also don't mind Stanford getting seeded ahead of Washington, given the head-to-head sweep and the better out-of-conference wins. I plan on saving my outrage for when the football committee snubs the UW football team.

At least that was my interpretation. Cook just likes to complain. They drew a team that nobody thought would actually be seeded as the 16 seed in their part of the bracket. Wouldn't that normally be considered a good thing? Then a 4-loss Pac-12 team (potentially) in the Elite 8 where everybody is good. That's not a particularly tough draw in my opinion.

Penn State did take them to five. Cook is just making sure his team doesn't think they have a cake walk. Because if they do...
Washington will likely have to go through Kentucky and Michigan State to get to Nebraska (last year they had to go through Michigan State and Ohio State). Nebraska has to go through Penn State.

There's a potential rematch with Nebraska and Wichita State in the 2nd round, which would be the same 2nd round match up as last year. The Shockers are a hot team right now after winning the MVC Tourney. They're on a 9 match win streak with wins over Missouri St., UNI, and SIU. This could possibly be a good early test for Nebraska, assuming they both take care of business in the 1st round.

As I look at the schedule, I'm surprised that Washington and Penn State didn't try to schedule around their football teams' schedules.
Washington football is in the Pac-12 Championship on Friday at 9pm eastern. Washington volleyball plays at 10:30. I know it's unorthodox, but they could've played the first match of the doubleheader to try to get done early. Then again, you don't exactly need a home court advantage to beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Penn State one is even more confusing. The football team is in the Big Ten Championship game on Saturday night. I have to imagine that's going to severely impact attendance at the second round match. It would've been a very easy fix to play Thursday-Friday. (This is what Wisconsin is doing to avoid the conflict)
