USD schedule (switch to 2017-2018 season): www.usdtoreros.com/sports/w-volley/sched/usd-w-volley-sched.htmlUCLA, Hawaii, Marquette, Texas, Utah, and Mizzou in the preseason. WOW. That is some tough scheduling. I always have doubts about how USD does in the preseason with their tough schedules, but they always seem to pull out some impressive wins in the preseason. Hopefully they will do the same this upcoming season! I think San Diego will be okay. UCLA graduated Jordan Anderson who had over 3kps to lead the team. But, they got a huge transfer as Sarah Sponcil should replace Formico, that is a huge get for the Bruins. Hawaii graduated monster point scorer Nikki Taylor, so a lot of questions remain there. Marquette lost a another monster point scorer to transfer (remember Autumn Bailey) as Taylor Louis transfers to Iowa. This makes Marquette look suspect. But they did just get Haak from Miami so I have to reconsider Marquette's potential. They also lose their setter. Texas always a beast. Hard to see a win here. Utah is dangerous - Anae is a senior now. They could make a run in the PAC. Missouri loses Carly Kan, who scored a lot of points and did alot all around. And if anyone is still doubting San Diego, remember they beat the defending national Champion (at Maples Pavilion) without their best player Lisa Kramer! They'll find a surprise win somewhere. They have to stop peaking early, though. They haven't made a ton of noise in the NCAA's, and I thought in 2013 they had a really good chance. UCSD lost Schad and Kramer.. combined they are a bigger loss than any of those you mention for the other teams, that's nearly 7 kills per set.

UCLA has two incoming freshmen that will probably transition well into the college game and replace Anderson quite easily. They should worry about setting more

Looking at Portland's schedule, what do you think will be their three most difficult pre conference matches?

Looking at Portland's schedule, what do you think will be their three most difficult pre conference matches? AT Wyoming vs. Oregon State AT New Mexico In that order, too.

I'm surprised UP didn't schedule a bit tougher. Making the tourney could be tough if you don't schedule a single Top 50 team OOC.

In contrast, San Diego schedule includes Texas, UCLA and Hawaii. Which is better, to schedule OOC matches where you are the underdog or the favourite?

From the LMU updates from their trip to Nicaragua, it seems that Sierra Bartley is already with the team, and that Sascha Dominique and Kameryn Hill are not with the team. Anyone know where Sascha Dominique and Kameryn Hill are?

Is it true that Megan Rice is leaving UCSB and joining LMU this fall?

I actually disagree. This is a really solid and tough non-conference schedule. Excellent for RPI. Ohio State, Missouri, Hawaii yes as you mentioned. But don't forget about: Baylor - Beat San Diego in NCAA's and had one of the nation's best all-around OH Utah - Will be led by Senior Adora Anae, also made NCAA's Boise State - Beat WKU in NCAA's before running into Stanford Wall Saint Louis - Lost in 5 in conference tournament, always a solid mid-major. Also, Sac State (20-12) & Nevada(19-11) had good 2016 seasons. UTRGV (21-14) is better than most think. Their worst schedulings were Weber State (14-13) and Utah Valley (16-14). If your worst teams in your OOC are .500, that says good things to come for your RPI.

If your worst teams in your OOC are .500, that says good things to come for your RPI. BYU does not schedule very tough for their level generally (look at their OOC over the past several years) but are masterful at scheduling for RPI. That's why they're consistently seeded or close to it, even in down years for the WCC or when they don't necessarily collect some big-time Ws. Some of their tougher OOC matches have been teams that outperform expectations (USC/UNC 2014, Mizzou/Ohio St. - 2016). I think UW in 2014 (at home) was the only big-time opponent over the past 5 years that they expected to be big-time.
