Going on now. So far 81-100, with 71-80 today. I'd say biggest name so far is Nicole Vargas @ #96 and Jessica Fishburn at #93. 3 Cincinnati recruits in the first 20. + 1 Hawaii. www.prepvolleyball.com/secure/default.aspSubscription required.

For those in the know, how do the PAC Ten and Big Ten fair in the 2005 recruiting war? It seems like Minnesota is running away with the 2005 class. Surely Stanford and Penn State will be close behind, but how about the others?

A lot of people will rate PSU's class as the best in the Big10.
But I like the kids Minnesota brought in, even if PSU did get Fawcett. Montano, for example, is supposed to be a terrific player.

For those in the know, how do the PAC Ten and Big Ten fair in the 2005 recruiting war? It seems like Minnesota is running away with the 2005 class. Surely Stanford and Penn State will be close behind, but how about the others? I think Stanford should have a great class - certainly Top 5, if not the #1 class. Cynthia Barboza - we all know how great of a player she is and she's got some great upside too, if she stays healthy. Erin Waller was PrepVolleyball.com's Junior of the Year in 2004 and while she plays middle blocker in high school, I think she'll move over onto the right because of her passing and defense. Foluke Akinradewo is an athlete who is quite raw in volleyball, but still made the Junior National Team. I think under Dunning's tutelage, she's going to be an impact player. Alex Fisher is a very underrated outside hitter who will play a supporting role to her other classmates, imho. However, she'll be very valuable to Stanford's run at an NCAA title in the next couple of years. And finally Jessica Fishburn could possibly contribute in the back-row, competing with freshman Kirsten Hornbeak for the libero position. Penn State has a great class with Fawcett and Harmotto headlining the class, but I think Stanford should be #1 (with some obvious bias of course). However, whether we are ranked #1 or #5 by publications, I don't care - I am very happy with the athletes we have signed and I think Dunning and Corlett did an excellent job at assembling a class that will rival Nebraska and USC for a national title in the coming years.

Witht he best '05 OH in barboza, who started of Fawcett on the JNT, and the best '05 MB who started with the JNT. Like Saki said, Waller the best junior(not my rating) but seems she will comtribute on the OPP and Fishburn is a very solid player and the very defensive Fishburn..... How can you not rate that class #1?

Stanford 05 class is definitely number 1. I consider Nebraska's class number 2 just based on Jordan Larson alone although I believed that they had at least 2 recruits for the 05 class

What about my Cal Bears and UCLA, or Arizona from the PAC Ten? I thought their classes were top five caliber. Looks like Penn State and Minnesota will rule the Big Ten for years to come based on what posters here think.

Some more interesting rankings, to me:
#50 Amanda Gates (Nebraska) #43 Erin Waller (Stanford) #39 Alex Fisher (Stanford)
Also, the first Minnesota recruit on the board is Kelly Schmidt at #31.

Alex Fisher is this tall gangly blonde kid from Menlo Park, CA who, I thought, was supposed to go to UCLA. Well, I saw Banachowski scouting her when she was a sophomore. I can see why people love her. Tall. Long arms. Kinda like Scottie Pippen and his wingspan.

This in addition to Montano, if all works out.

A newcomer here. Don't have subscription to PrepVB. Will someone kind enough to post the list up here and where the girls are heading? Cheers!

A newcomer here. Don't have subscription to PrepVB. Will someone kind enough to post the list up here and where the girls are heading? Cheers! The head guy at PrepVolleyball is John Tawa, who occasionally posts as "SavvyOmnipresence" on this board. He doesn't mind if individual players are discussed, or lists of one school's recruits are posted. However - he will get upset over wholesale cut & paste of PrepVB content or a full copy of a list on a public message board. He could theoretically pull subscriptions. This is what he had to say for the 2004 Top 30 classes list: volleytalk.proboards35.com/index.cgi?board=general&thread=1084987639&action=display&start=11Even though I had a subscription, I asked if maybe he could put up a raw list, at which point he put down just the top 3.

Wow! Will Minnesota have the best class in 2005 with that list? Does Heffernan get a bulk of the credit for this? I hear various stories about Montano and the recruitment of her. Does anyone know much about this situation?

Penn State, again, looks to have the more highly rated class, but not by far. And Stanford will have two top 10 recruits.
Brian was certainly a big part of Minnesota's incoming class, although Dave Boos (and Mike Hebert, of course) were very much involved. I believe Recruiting was actually Dave's responsibility.
Also, I hear Minnesota was Fawcett's #2 choice.
Montano is the wildcard for Minnesota. If she does indeed come to Minnesota, the Gophers' class takes a backseat to no one. I have heard, however, that there are visa problems.
(I hope I'm not out of bounds posting that here.)
