Borderlands series already solved this. The initial NORMAL mode, you can make the game as easy or as difficult as you like by over leveling or under leveling. You can go in and out of DLCs as if it’s part of the main game. Seamless. It’s like fast travel. However, the game won’t let you over level too much because all the missions step up (e.g., 3 levels) with you. But this step up is static so you can still be overleveled. After you beat NORMAL mode, several other modes open up including one where the game levels up along with you. So, whatever powerful weapon you found along the way will not give you that much more of an advantage because every enemy is at your level. And all the enemies have literally transformed into more badass versions of their original selves. Yeah, well, you just described leveling. As I said, Oblivion had leveling. Leveling has its own problems. What I'm talking about is when a DLC introduces a new challenge and also provides the means of overcoming it, but that happens to obsolete the original game. Just like you describe for HZD, where the new Frozen Wilds stuff was better than the original, so it makes the original top-tier stuff obsolete. Leveling can't fix this, really. (It also can make games more grindy and remove some of the sense of accomplishment. Morrowind did not level, which meant some of the dungeons and quests were just bloody impossible for low level characters. But it also provided a sense of satisfaction when you return at level 30 to that dungeon that wiped you out at level 10, but this time you crush it.) What are you talking about? Leveling in Borderlands fixed this. Everyone is at your level! First of all, the Frozen Wilds didn't make the original main game stuff obsolete. This was your characterization of what I said of a game you haven't played. LOL! At the end of the day, you still have to kill your enemies, many of which are pretty darn difficult to take down. Second, the superior weapons that you gained in the HZD Frozen Wilds DLC didn't make the main game any less fun. It just made you more confident. Third, as I moved in and out of the DLCs in the Borderlands series, leveling didn't take any of the fun away at all. If anything, it made things more intense and exciting. I'm not quite sure what precise point you're trying to make, if any. LOL!

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition (for PS4) is available!
I played through this game and all the DLCs on the PS3 multiple times and just absolutely frikkin' LOVED it. I don't know if it's worth it to get the remastered version on the PS4. I was briefly looking at someone's LIVE youtube gameplay of this version today (it's still going on) and it brought back great memories. For a moment, I was tempted to get the PS4 version only to experience it in its remastered state.

I’m on Uncharted 3 now. I know Wolfgang is a big fan of the train sequence from the previous game but I personally think escaping fire at the chateau is an even cooler event. I’m really loving this series and it definitely made me grateful I bought a PS4. I know they’ve been plannning on making a movie for a very long so I actually looked back at the timeline of that whole process and it’s ridiculous how difficult it has been to get it accomplished.

Played past the armored vehicle several times before I even noticed the save point. LOL Happy hunting in the boss fight!
