Even though Iowa's schedule hasn't been unveiled as of yet, saw that the Hawks will be in a tournament at American University in DC along with Princeton and Howard on weekend of Sept 15-16. All 3 of those teams qualified for NCAAs last year so this appears to be a good scheduling move from RPI perspective....especially if the Hawks can take care of business.

Bond mentioned in a June 1 article about the Spring season that the Hawks would play coast-to-coast. That's the east coast. Where on the west coast? Wish they'd come out with the schedule soon.

Per Rich Kern, Maggie Revell, MB who just transferred this spring to Iowa from Sam Houston State, is now going to Bradley for the fall. If this is correct, maybe the addition of transfer O'Neill was a large factor for her...that, plus some highly-heralded MB recruits coming in 2018 & 2019. This would also leave the Hawks with only two MBs on the roster for 2017, just as was the case last year. Mind you, they're very good ones (Janota and O'Neill) but still scarily thin in that one position. Hmmmm...

Your wish has been granted! First weekend, west coast trip with Stanford and Long Beach on the docket Wow! Bond is drinking from the fire hose! But if you are going to take on a BIG DOG, better to take them on early in the season with a new coach and unsettled lineup.

And Ms. Taylor Louis came out to SoCal to open 2016 with a big win AT USC.. She'll have to do it against the B1G Cardinal Block

Iowa City native DS/L Ashley Smith transferring this year from Omaha to Iowa (link to article below). With MB Maggie Revell apparently transferring to Bradley, this puts roster back at 18 for this fall. If I'm not mistaken, Bond has had 16 each year at Iowa thus far. Loaded with OHs and DSs!! Hope we see "official" announcement of Taylor Louis' transfer and her listed on roster on hawkeyesports.com soon!! I will feel complete and more at ease when I do! :-) GO HAWKS! daily-iowan.com/2017/06/21/no-place-like-home-for-transfer-volleyball-player-ashley-smith/

I realize this isn't directly related to 2017 but... I watched much of the AAU 17 Open final and was quite impressed with Hannah Clayton, 2018 Hawk MB recruit. She was a dominant force for Illini Elite and key contributor to their championship. Thought the comment on PVB.com about her being identified as a standout was spot on: "Talk about zero-tempo!" She has a crazy quick middle attack and puts the ball down! As we look at basically having only 3 Frosh MBs in 2018, this sure instilled confidence in me that we're going to be fine. Glad you're going to be a Hawkeye, Hannah!!

If anyone gets a chance to check out Claire Sheehan on Northern Lights 18-1 feel free to send some thoughts in here! Her team is 2-1 in Power Pool B of 18 Open.

Looks like Alexa Ito is no longer listed on the 2017 roster...hmmm. Sure wish her well if she is moving on to another program or just to different endeavors.
