I could be wrong, but isn't their biggest problem replacing Formico? She was running the show last year and made that team very tough to beat. Replacing the two middles will be just as tough; UCLA has a lot of good ball handlers. Frager and Felix weren't the fleetest of foot but were experienced and very disciplined and put a good block up and both were really efficient offensively too (despite some erratic setting)

They'll have Buechler, TVW, May, and Mosser competing for the OH and OPP positions. I think we see Buechler and Mosser at OH and TVW at OPP, maybe May at OPP if they go to a 6-2. I think in a 5-1 you're more likely to see May as a 3rotation left alongside Buechler/TVW. Mosser and Buechler are similar players. You can run them together in a 6-2, or alternately go with a big 6-2 with Buechler/TVW passing and May/Light. ... and yes, the biggest problem will be replacing their MVP Formico, but there's not a lot of discussion there. It's just Simo or Muno.

OH Van Winden and Buechler? Opposite? Middles Gates and Rogers? Are any of the incoming freshmen ready? They'll have Buechler, TVW, May, and Mosser competing for the OH and OPP positions. . you forgot about Light. she is enrolled right now. this is the first time Bueehler will have to seriously contend for playing time. M&M are big time offensive players with great range although Buechler played well at the end of last season after the switch to 6-2. it will be a big fight for the pin spots

Buechler was a very good passer. Her career mirrors Sarah Shaw some. Fell into a big role and held on.

On the UCLA Instagram story, it looks like Muno was setting for a spring match against a team from china. Not sure if it was her cause the videos were kinda quick

I've become a Jenny Mosser fan watching MN Select the past few years, so now I get to be a UCLA fan. That girl impresses.

OH Van Winden and Buechler? Opposite? Middles Gates and Rogers? Are any of the incoming freshmen ready? Let's put it this way. If Mosser is healthy and playing anywhere near her potential and is NOT a UCLA starter, UCLA is going to be in pretty good shape at outside hitter. Mosser is a very good player.

I have never seen Mosser play but she is 5'11"and the college blocks are older and bigger... I see the middles as the biggest problem

I would be surprised if Sarah Sponcil wasn't wearing the libero jersey in the fall... As much as it would make sense for Sponcil to transfer in, this falls in to the "Believe it when I see it" category.

Ball control and volleyball IQ are their MO. "Shorter" players do have to expend more energy, yes. But the kid's an elite athlete. More importantly, Mosser gets up off the floor. I don't think her height will be an issue. My main concern is her passing. But that keeps getting better, so it's not a huge concern. I am hoping that Stanford is not the future of the sport. That everyone doesn't have to be 6'5" to compete for a title.

On the Division 1 Transfer (2017) discussion board, there's talk that Sarah Sponcil is coming to UCLA. if true it would be a great transfer for the Bruins.

I guess we're just waiting for it to be official. She can hit, play defense, and set. How will she be used on the indoor team?

I'm thinking she'll be setting 6-2 with Miller. Just guessing.
