Nicole and Kerri pull it out 15-12 in the third. They'll play Agatha/Duda tomorrow. The Big Swiss Tanja collapsed a bit there at the end. she had a net on an out swing by Nicole, hit one out, blocked, had a horrendous serve receive. Kerri played awesome, huge and clutch at the net. This match will give Nicole some serious confidence. Betschart is the swiss version of Hughes, and even younger.

I think this match was won because the US had 70 years of combined experience and the Swiss had two. In the second game, which is when the Swiss were closest to winning, they served Kerri on game point for the US at 19-18. Nicole has done a lot of things well, not counting that first game, but she just isn't helping enough. She is basically siding out and thats it. Kerri's block timing isn't quite there yet, but when that kicks in they will get some points but Nicole has to dig more balls. If Kerri and Nicole don't win another game, April paid $1,000 this week not to play with Kerri

Claes and Hughes take it 15-13. I think it would be dumb of Kerri to not try to get Hughes before 2020. Fendrick really struggled to side out in this match, especially in the first set. April was hitting on two often and they even switched sides a couple times when Lauren got in a rut. April wore a yellow sand sock to protect her injured otoe, but otherwise looked solid. April's jump floater was really effective at getting Kelly out of system. Sara's defense was awesome as usual. Sometimes I think Kelly gets too cute with her shots. She is mostly unstoppable when she swings away, but maybe against a stronger blocker she gets into a funk. Claes struggled at times in College against pairs that had a strong blocker. Hughes defence was usually enough to cover.

Kerri already tried and Sara turned her down That's not really how it happened but whatev! It can all be pretty much boiled down to Kerri asking (more than once), and Hughes declining. So the OP wasn't wrong.

Just watched the Kerri/Nicole v. Switzerland replay - I thought they played really well considering the short time they have been together and their lack of actual match play so far? The Swiss are really good, and I was very impressed by Nicole's consistent passing and jump serves, and also by Kerri's overall play. On the downside, Nicole had a pretty tough time siding out (I could not tell by the angle of the Beachstream replay how far or close to the net Kerri's sets were), and it seems silly to not have Kerri blocking full-time. I agree that Nicole is pretty slow on defense, and I have always thought that Kerri is one of the best at dropping off the net while blocking and popping balls up, so I hope they switch that up so that Kerri blocks full-time - seems silly not to take total advantage of her much better blocking skills, and I think they would have won that match if they had? This is a great breakdown of exactly what I saw too. Nicole's siding out was better in the Brazil match, probably because of the smaller blocker, but she hit cross a little too consistently for someone who doesn't have the fastball anymore. Her passing was fantastic though and once they get settled, i would love to see them take advantage of that a little with some play sets. Bad draw for all the US teams except April. Claes/Hughes would have a good chance against almost any team at the Ross/Fendi level, except Ross/Fendi, who I think will have a mental advantage. The Swiss are the class in that bracket and they are beatable Kerri/Nicole get a super winnable game up front, but second round get Brazil, then Pavan if they get past that. Hard to see them doing much but hopefully they can at least extend it and keep working out the kinks Thanks much, Guest2 - kinda cool when we agree on something - HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the level of playing on the fivb tour is truly incredible. Did anyone see how the Cubans manhandled Alison/Bruno? And Jake and Taylor almost lost to some Mexicans who played very well. You really have to be on top of your game to win. I'm really looking forward to this year's world championships.

It is strange, maybe if I blame the loss on their male coach we can get back to normal. Claes/Hughes losing to Switzerland. Kelly really intimidated by Heidrich at the net and her ball control broke down late. Its a shame because Anouk is just terrible on defense and anything that gets by Joanna is going down. I now she just made the change this year but she looks like a fish out of water back there.

Kerri & Nicole get blitzed like I assumed they would. Some strides this tourney but need lots more tourneys & competition before they will start hanging with the big dogs. Nicole's body language is awful I think. Seems as though Kerri needs to keep her fired up after every point. Stop 🛑 split blocking. It ain't working!!! Just my two cents!

Both sets were pretty back and forth until about 12 and then the Swiss made runs and C/H couldn't come back. Claes needs to work on hitting around a block or using it. She'll get better.

I'm sure Nicole is pretty mad at letting her chance with Kerri slip away quickly. She knows she is going to get served almost every time but she just had too many errors today. Her reaction on defense also seems a step slow every time like she doesn't read the hitter very well around Kerri's block. Might just be a part of not having enough match experience together. Pavan and H-P are looking good again this week. Obviously playing Brazil is a different beast but Sarah and Melissa seem to sideout just about every ball right now.

Yesssssssssssssssss....not to long ago there were some favorites teams and they usually would always win( such as Larissa and Talita or Walsh and Ross...But now there`s simply no "favorite teams" anymore. Basically any team can win in any giving day, you play your best or you will loose. I can`t wait for the World Championship also.. Today Pavan/Melissa vs Agatha/Duda should be a good one.

If Kerri and Nicole don't win another game, April paid $1,000 this week not to play with Kerri on the other hand, she's made $20,000 from the AVP that wouldn't be possible with Kerri....
