He hasn't beat any good teams this year!! And beating slick don't count he was hurt. they didn't beat Slick. they beat Jeremy Casebeer / John Mayer as Reid's best win. He has beaten quite a few MD regulars though. Here are the teams Reid has beaten this year that haven't been in qualifiers this year: Loomis/Tramblie Bomgrens (and they will be by the end of the year) Casebeer/Mayer There are basically 12 Main Draw teams + 4 qualifiers. Of those 12 MD teams, Reid is, at best, the 8th best defender and I think he is more like 10th.

Is mckibbin and loomis a god team? Because before winning SF, they went 0-2 in seatle and stil hasn't beaten a good team, other than a hurt Slick who demolished them earlier when sliqck was healthy. No they aren't. They got the luckiest draw possible in a depleted tournament and took advantage. They played well, but if they win more matches than they lose when the good teams come back I would be surprised

10th best defender is about right. BTW, just posted adversity talk on IG, we'll see if Santos sticks for one more.

You know, seeing as he gets up pretty high and has decent height, Reid should consider blocking either full-time or split like he did with Chaim in Huntington. He's not going to lead tour in blocks but his chances of getting a partner will increase if he goes that route. Again, not saying it's ideal but he's going to run out of options soon.

But he's also had 3 partners, hasn't had time to build any re pore with any blocker. He maybe the 10th best defender now, but I think he could get as high as 6th. Nick Casey Taylor Mayer Allen are all above him, all others have holes in their games too. Next tier are Loomis Zaun Frishman?? Olson?? Priddy clearly belongs in this group. Ty and Eric are more of an offensive defenders, Olson is a very good defender but a bit limited offensively.

To sit here and pretend like this season gives a definitive look at how this quad will play out for him is ridiculous.
If you want to look at his inexperience and age as well as who he hasn't beaten, you're going to put your eggs in the "this isn't going anywhere" basket.
If you look at how he's improved in just one year as well as his drive to make this happen, you're going to put your eggs in the "odds aside, there's a chance" basket.
You can put your beliefs on either side, but to pretend like what we've seen is enough to make a hard stance is silly.
If nothing else, it's great to see a player going above and beyond to market their brand as well as the sport. We need more personalities like him. And for that reason I'm rooting for him.

Good points prior poster but this started as simply Reid's Norman-like collapse that likely cost him Santos longer term. That would have elevated him into mid card or higher but after that unforgettable fail, this likely retarded what little time he has to get there. It's sliding doors and it was oh so close, yet so far away. I'm betting Santos goes back with Chaim as the Canadians beach game is far superior to Reid's. I truthfully wish Reid all the luck and hope dude overcomes this brutalizing defeat.

Considering Reid's development in a meager 3 months, I will take his upside over the the course of the rest of this year and next year over Olson easily and maybe even Loomis. Even with his (and Santos also) utter collapse, he is a completely different player now than he was even 2 months ago.

Regardless of the results, Reid and Santos made a TWO tournament agreement to play together and WILL be together for Hermosa. Ricardo and Chaim are partners for this entire AVP season when Chaim isn't playing FIVB. So, yes, Reid will be grabbing yet another partner for Manhattan and Chicago.

What if they win HB? (they shouldn't unless either Crabb team aren't playing)

Both Crabb brothers will be playing with their respective partners. And there are other teams that I don't see them beating.

This is far from the season to be determining anything about Reid. Is he the next coming of Karchie? Absolutely not!!! Will he be a beach Olympian in Tokoyo? Most likely a NO there as well. But will he be competitive on the AVP for a few years? Sure. Next season will be the season to see where he really stands as far as everything. Talk of him grabbing a "decent" partner this off season.
