USC is 5-1 in the Pac with a shot at winning the conference, what in the world are people expecting? They have had a few head scratching losses sure, but they've had several great wins too. Yes. Losses to UNI, Kentucky, Arizona, and Maryland. But wins against Washington, Creighton, UCLA and Michigan are good. USC has a chance to take control of the conference with a tall task at home next Sunday vs. the Card

I find this site's view on the Texas program consistently amusing. A Texas team with the best block and 6th best hitting percentage in the country is disappoint to 23 people. I hope my personal mediocrity never crosses those 23 people.

Stanford is already up a match on them and Utah is 5-1 with UW and UCLA not far behind. Now, if Stanford gets 2 wins next weekend, they will be looking very pretty considering they only have Utah at home along with playing UW twice. Still, the bottom half of the conference has shown to be pretty dangerous so more conference upsets should be expected.

But i'm also a realist -- USC will struggle with Cal if they play the way they did in Tucson. Stanford is the clear #1 right now. I like Utah alot. Will be an interesting race.

I don't understand why USC would be a disappointment. They were never ranked in the top 25 to begin the season. They are currently 13-4 and yet it's disappointing ? ?

Not surprised to see UNC in first place by a good amount. Voting for UNC is futile considering the number of injuries, season ending and lingering... USC particularly Lanier, has been a little disappointing. After not being named an AA last season, I thought she would come out stronger... I also expected Texas to be completely unstoppable but they definitely have a few weaknesses, same with Purdue. Why is it futile? Injuries are disappointing. And, the mediocre play that results from injuries is disappointing. Just because there's a clear reason for a disappointing season, doesn't make it any less disappointing. In fact, there's a whole different "what could have been" aspect to the disappointment that's not there when a team simply doesn't play well.

There have been a lot of disappointments so far for the 2017 season! Below are my top 10 Disappointments compiled from the home office in Dallas, TX
1. My PTW results through week 7 have been beyond disappointing. (I could have had my dog pick them and get same results probably, but I am still above c4ndle...... damn, the bar is low this season!)
2. hautehomme / RumbleinRio / #smove / etc. not changing his name to ILoveCarlini! for 60 days after losing bet on Nebraska / Texas final 4 match. (still waiting)
3. Rampageripster trying to mail it in......the honeymoon is over and it's obvious his wife no longer allows him the freedom to hang out in front of his computer with a bottle of bourbon and type / spew PSU hate, and B1G weekly updates!
4. Lack of Penn St. fans participation this season even when they are top 5 - when's the last time a Penn St. thread was on page 4 or 5 during the season before 2017? No boofism posts,....even MTC has been quiet.
5. Hell, even tomclen seems to be mailing it in this season, or he is too busy building a wall around his house to keep the right wing out.
6. ay2013 has become soft in his posting - probably only pissed one or two people off in 2017 so far. (I'm hoping, for entertainment purposes, he closes the season strong)
7. bigfan's digs per match against Texas is at an all time low. You could always count on bigfan for a nice Texas dig or backhanded compliment every other day.
8. Nebraska's fans are staying on their threads and the hijacking epidemic of 2015 and 2016 seems to be contained, but now it's boring without a big red antagonist to fire up Wisconsin, Texas, PSU, and PAC fans.
9. MIA for 2017 compared to past seasons - (R)uffda - I figured with Gimmillaro no longer voting his post count would go down, boof - good for a laugh on every post, holidayhusker - he seems to be quarantined in the political forum, BiK - did he get banned for the season? & the usual Hawaii fans that argue among themselves on their thread that brings a chuckle.
10. Last but not least....... the ACC being replaced by the AAC in conference strength!
What a messed up 2017 season!!!!!

That good teams with multiple key injuries might struggle is hardly surprising, however.

I will be disappointed if my team does not make it to the tournament. That should be a yearly expectation in a good program.

Wisconsin?? I don't care what their record is, they are clearly a top 10 team, without Haggerty and Carlini. What the heck were people expecting? MSU, Minnesota and Nebraska are all excellent teams and Wisky went 5 with all of them. Why are you, a moderator, using your moderator ID to respond to substantive threads instead of using your regular VT moniker, which I assume you have. Whatever became of "separating church and state" so-to-speak? BTW I agree with your comments. That I might be banned if I didn't has no bearing. I used to question an earlier moderator about the same thing. I guess the meaning of moderator has changed over time. My expectation is that a moderator can have an opinion, but must not express it while wearing a moderator hat. That said, I can't say I'd be willing to volunteer to be one.

My biggest disappointment already happened in the off season when Torrey Van Winden transferred. Otherwise I think this is going to be a great season where many teams have a chance to win the national championship

USMNT soccer No kidding. How does the US lose to Trinidad & Tobago, a country with a population that is somewhere around 1/200th of ours and needed to hope Honduras and panama fell down for the team to continue? And people here bitch about Karch?
