Just had a quick question: does anyone know whats going on over at the NVL? Is the league looking to bounce back next season? Is it going to fold? Have there been any updates of any sort?

It appears Al, Leonard & Kerri are working hard to bring in sponsorships, TV deals etc....Time will tell!! I hope the NVL can grow....

Pretty sure they are strong arming for the big events Like WSOBVB, which are again going to leave the NVL players out in the cold. How some of those players don't see that blows my mind.

To reiterate: NVL will never be on the same level as the AVP, it's just not gonna happen ever. Players seeking to play at the highest level domestically need to sign with AVP or be called out as posers.

Lets all agree on something here because I am surely not alone, 405LAX can be an extremely annoying informed one track minded troll when he gets on his tangents, but he is not wrong here. Instead of having a big dick swinging contest that NVL will NEVER win, they should be finding a way to work together and merge the AVPnext/NVL leagues to create tons of events all over the nation to take control of this emerging grass roots movement and explosion that is beach volleyball in our juniors programs. The NVL is the JV team to the AVP and while at times they were putting out a better "social" aspect the AVP is quickly catching up if all the rumors about live streaming and such are true and the NVL will really not hold any more advantages. The best comparison is the NFL to the USFL - sure the latter attracted some big names and had their moments but realistically what do we all get excited for at the end of January.

Donald Sun is the one that doesn't want anything to do with the NVL, and I still think it's ok for NVL to do their thing. They aren't any different than EEVB or other regional organizations other than they offer a lot less money then the AVP and a lot more money than those. I don't really get trashing the players for making the decision to play that instead of the AVP, but I don't think anyone is saying the NVL will ever be on the same level or even close to what the AVP is competitively. I haven't heard that argument once. And for the record I get about as upset as anyone for not seeing the better NVL teams try their hand at the AVP. It certainly worked for guys like Zaun/Marciniak/Samuels etc.

Still waiting for Del Sol & Mesko to take over the AVP. Oh wait, they tried to qualify and were bounced in early rounds, my bad.

The last thing junior volleyball needs is another organization taking the focus, time, and demand away from AAU/USAV national tournaments and tours. We now have the AVP, NVL, JVA (BVCA), ROX, and ABT all trying to siphon off players with their redundant national tours/championships. Whereas the CBVA and SSVA do a great job of locally promoting the sport, these other ventures just weaken US Olympic prospects and dilute the quality of play.

Would you like to start a thread personally bagging on the a NVL players too like you did with Travis Mewhirter?

He did his best to make it on the AVP back in the day and now he basically plays recreationally. For Del Sol though, its fair. Maybe its financial but hard to see how he doesn't look at Zaun's success and at least take a shot. Maybe this year
