Wittenberg is going with Evelyn Carus, paco's assitant as interim HC for the season. Nice move to maintain stability and to see if she can handle the big chair.
And Santiago Restrepo is the HC at Oklahoma City University, has been for a few months.

[ DIII Assistant? Hmmmm.... DIII Associate Head Coach, not assistant. Good luck to Ben. Wisconsin-Whitewater. He will be fine, although it might be a step down in Volleyball level and potential success.

Some of it is as you said, a fancy title. But in certain stages the associate head runs the whole show except for the press conference.

Whitewater has more 6' + players (including the 3 tallest players if you combined the rosters), more overall players, draws better attendance, and based on this hire, I'm going to guess Whitewater pays better.

But in certain stages the associate head runs the whole show except for the press conference. Behind the scenes--sure (and not just in volleyball). But based on just a title? An outsider wanting an answer never goes "Give me the associate boss." They want the head coach. I'm shocked in a couple ways. First that WIU hired a man. Second, I know three people (two male, one female) who applied that on paper at least had better credentials--one is a mutual friend though he started up last week and is happy where he is. I just don't understand administrators. Though I do think Maryville (for the first time ever) made a great selection as coach. I think she could be a difference-maker for their program. Totally great hire as far as I can tell.

[ DIII Assistant? Hmmmm.... Dave Shondell - club coach....how did that turn out? It is kind of apples and oranges in my mind. Dave has the reputation through his many titles on the high school level and many successes in club. I will admit that it IS indeed difficult to come to an understanding on the equivalence of the various credentials.

Apparently there are some lions without a coach in their den. Since season started for most today, no need to be vague here!
