I'm just not buying that they have split. Nicole saying she is playing Lauderdale and needs a partner, doesn't necessarily mean they have split. Kerri is out for a little while with all the surgeries, so she wasn't playing no matter what. I could be wrong, just not a confirmed split at the moment.

She is making the correct reads IMO, but not getting very far off the net and getting beat over her head. Hughes has been less than stellar defensively also. At this level, everyone is pretty good and you can't have a lackluster performance. 11-9 C/H now UPDATE: Kelly finishes strong with a few blocks, digs and they win 15-11 Where do you get your info? Even in a post match interview with the FIVB reporter Claes admitted her partner was the only reason they held on to win and that she was playing in her head.. there has to be a blocking effort to play defense behind. It is a mental game & when your physically and mentally unprepared for this level of play your not going to compete . Your job is to show up ready for battle. Where did I get my info? I watched the match... Hughes did hold them in, but she let a lot of balls drop. Claes made the last 4 plays of the match, fact!

By the way, Alix is no longer playing in the 1* event in Australia in early Feb. Maybe after the gold medal, they don't really need the 100 pts. Gives them more time to train together.

Told a friend in Manhatten Beach last week that she was playing & that she needed to find a new partner. Given that she was semi-retired at this time last year and only came back because Kerri called, what's the point of Nicole playing FIVB now? Can't see her making a run at Tokyo without Kerri. Maybe she could convince Lauren or EmDay to play with her but even that seems like a long shot. I think Nicole loves the competition. Just because she can't make Tokyo doesn't mean another 18 months of relatively high level volleyball is worthless. I think Kerri dragging her out got her over the hump in getting back into real vb shape and now she probably doesn't want to walk away again
