Agree. Two very good additions to the program. They’ll definitely help take UNC back to the top of the conference.

Unlikely for the Heels to rebound.. With Leath transferring for her 5th year and some looking to transfer due to Rackham, Adams and Watt leaving it would be surprising if they can make it out of the middle of the ACC.

Is there some publicly reported source for Leath transferring? This is the first I've heard it.

Leath is looking for private training and isn't training with the team during spring season.

She has a good friend on a team to the north that would love an experienced OH

I am Not saying this is wrong, but I have not heard anything of transfers. I definitely think that with weaker hires it would be possible but these are two hires that will fit nicely with current players. I also see a lot of these players are committed student athletes, not just athletes

Is Leath transferring to Penn State? She is from State College and was a PSU ball girl growing up. They could definitely use an experienced 6-rotation OH.

Well if she is she picked a bad time to transfer because her family just purchased a home around Chapel Hill to live.

Brandon10, it sounded like you'd seen a practice or two or know people who have. Has Leath been at practices? If yes, that makes it unlikely. If no, it's very likely that she's doing her fifth year elsewhere.

Everything has been hectic with them changing coaches and somewhat secretive up to today until press release. I am not saying Leath is not transferring, she very much could because she could fill a hole at larger schools. However, she is very close to her family. I don’t see her leaving when they just bought a house near UNC to be closer to her. Also, UNC has been her team the past two years and she is very close with her team mates. As a senior leader that would be a tough decision to make.

Ah, I thought you might know because you'd posted about who had been at a practice and who hadn't been. I suppose if Cameron Johnson could graduate from Pitt and head to UNC in basketball, someone like Leath could do something similar. Whether she leaves or stays, she brought a lot to the program and deserves to be in a situation that works well for her. If anyone sees a practice, Leath's presence or absence will probably make the situation pretty obvious.
If she does leave, it may be an opportunity for one of the freshman outsides to establish herself. Scoles managed to do it as a true freshman.
There's definitely plenty for the new staff to work on this season. Last year was simply a very difficult year with so many serious injuries and so little clarity about who would be available to play in any given match. I've seen teams that had injury issues and it's clear, but never a situation where there was so much uncertainty about who was available to play.

Yeah unfortunately I haven’t been around there the past few weeks to see. I can say she was still there around Christmas break and had no indication of leaving then. If she leaves, it will be sad for Carolina fans because she has become a staple for this program and a leader. There’s a lot to lose but Sagula knew Leath was graduating and leaving soon....that’s why he recruited both Scoles and Borup to form a tandem on the outside when Leath did leave and Cox and Harrison will fit into that as well. Carolina is not a school that sees a big transfer bug even when coaches change. The girls are very loyal to each other and the program. The core of Carlton, Borup, Evans, Scoles, Fradenburg, and Esterly are not going anywhere. Like I said, I don’t see Leath leaving. In honesty, UNC has more parts back to compete then Penn State will have next year and some other teams. I don’t see her leaving a team that has become hers and where things will get better next year to go play somewhere for a year without a guarantee of being a leader. I really think she is staying at UNC. Even if not I wish her the best. She’s a fantastic young lady
