I would like to see Rettke develop a heavier arm swing Lutz seemed to pound tbe ball on the right, but she barely gets off the ground compared to Rettke. If Badgers go with a 3 middle offense with Hart, would we see Duello move down in the depth chart and possibly be a 3rd or fourth option on the left? That is where i fear we may be a bit thin in the next 2 years if Haggerty isn,t 100% or becomes reinjured. I still cringe having Dodge and Clark both on scholarship as liberos and ds. With so many injuries in sports, i think having nore depth in the hitting positions is more important. We never have a shortage of defensive specialists on the roster and will be adding 3 or 4 in 2019 depending on how Gregorski is utilized.
side note :Prepvolleyball.com released a list of 250 2019 recruits that are in the running for their top 50 list to be released in january, and all 5 badger recruits were listed. I thing Gregorski is going to be the next Kellie Bates: a bit undersized but capable of being a solid contributor on the outside and solid in the backrow

Here’s a thought for you Badger fans: Rettke as an OH. She was an OH her last 2 years in club. Haggerty & Rettke make a lethal 1-2 punch on the outside. All depends on whether or not she can serve receive at the Big Ten level. That would be fun. Cuttino-esque. But she'd have to really up her passing and defending. I really do want to see her play 6 rotations and hit out of the back, ala Sandbothe. It'd be fun.

Just hoping Haggerty and T get healthy and can stay healthy. I'd like to see Rettke move to the right-I think that is the route to the best team overall. Looking forward to next year already. How long til August?

Or how long until April ? Will be fun to see the team this spring, too. Same. My guess is we won't learn too much though. They've played it pretty cautious with respect to rehabbing players in spring, as they should be. We may have another Haggerty and Williams-less spring. Will still be fun to see Hart and Loberg make their mark.

I am not going to let the trolls drive me away from here as long as there are people around who want to have a substantive discussion about volleyball. We may disagree and don't have to always be pillars of sunshine. I think taking the sport seriously and having high expectations shows respect to the players and coaches, as long as you don't act like a jerk in doing so.
As far as the Badgers going forward, last night gave huge reasons for optimism going forward. The freshmen, while they have things to address, showed their vast potential. Dodge has worked out whatever problems she had in her mid season slump, and she and Clark give me confidence in the back row going forward. I just hope the Badgers can get and stay healthy, which would be huge. I am excited to see what Hart can bring, and Duello will have a year of experience and be further removed from her knee injury. I just hope the serving improves.

Clark's passing last night was spot on after I critiqued her for being the least dependable passer. I really felt quite good about Hilley as well. Thought she set an excellent match. Dodge seemed great. I really like the loook of Tionna this year, even after she got hurt. And Duello was a lot more efficient down the line, though she wasn't set much for some reason.
I do like to watch Rettke in the middle. She is so active there. I'd hate to have that curtailed by a move to the right, although I understand the argument for it.
One thing that frustrated me this year was how slow the badgers were to react to adjustments made by the other team. The initial scouting reports must be great, because the badgers won so many first sets, but it often felt like the other team would adjust and then things would start to muck up the gears. The badgers rarely regained their initial impetus once it was lost. I'm hoping the experience this year will help with that, get them to recognize and react more quickly to adjustments.

Not to be overly simplistic, but if the roster can stay healthy (especially Haggerty), this should be a Top 5 team next year. If a few players show some significant growth, this team could be pretty special.
I'm very optimistic about this team moving forward!

Please don’t leave, Badger posters - you’re a much appreciated lifeline to the team for those of us now out of state We appreciate your shared perspective with Minnesota. Rough day for you with a double whammy. The fact that you are a "Dodge" and we have M.E. cracks me up. I thought ME could have been a daughter of a cousin, I have so many, but no. I probably said that before, along with the uncanny Robin Yount connection (giant poster of him and Molitor on my wall as a kid). And uncanny now too, that she dates Hauser, and myself, unlikely many Badgers probably, also (usually, except when playing WI, maybe just like ME) roots for Marquette. It was good that the WI match was after the MN match, and that WI represented quite well. I don't know if anyone beats Stanford with Plummer hitting like that.

I like Marquette, and in my family tree are people named Dodge. Maybe we are long lost twenty-third cousins. Although my Dodges are in New York.
But she does look a lot like my niece and they are the same age!

KPS tweeting out some nice words for his team today. Go visit his twitter feed for details.
One tidbit was that he mentioned his "two players who redshirted" which leads me to believe Whalen will be eligible. Let's not lose sight of her given we still don't know about Haggerty's likelihood of being full strength.
Man it's hard being a coach. End of the year sucks. Every. Single. Year.
Your team loses and you lose your seniors. I know that has to be put in perspective, but it's dang hard. But you are shaping young people, the most important part.

Whalen will be eligible to redshirt or she's using a year of eligibility this season?. The two we know are redshirting are Haggerty and Hart... if Whalen was taking a redshirt, wouldn't it be 3?

Duh, yes. I think they have to apply for Whalen to get a medical redshirt.

I hope Whalen is eligible and able to get a redshirt. At any rate, it stinks that she had to deal with the injury and lost development time. Either way, I hope she is able to get back to 100 percent and am very happy to have her on the roster going forward.
