Check it out: The new Wisconsin student athlete nutrition center is officially called the Jack Links Protein Performance Center. Goofy corporate sponsorship aside, it looks like a nice new benefit for the players. The PBJ smoothie in particular looks pretty tasty. I'm glad to see the continued focus on nutrition and recovery. I understand you can text in your smoothie order in the morning & it's ready for players to pick up after conditioning! That’s pretty sweet.

Also, this is just spectacular. I'm looking at this picture, and it's beautiful, but it breaks my brain. I can't figure out where the light hitting the clouds comes from. It looks for all the world as if the moon is in front of or beneath the clouds, lighting them up. I asked a friend of mine who has decades of experience in photography and all optics, here is what he had to say: "Thin clouds don't always show as an obstruction against the moon. I know where the photograph took the photograph from. Using the distance to the moon in miles, the diameter of the moon in miles, the distance of the capitol from the photographer in feet, and the width of the capitol dome in feet, the moon is where it should be in the sky during this event and the correct disc size against the sky."

Yeah, those clouds look substantial, but that has to be an illusion caused by the amount of light they refract and the way pattern of refraction. Maybe because the clouds are made of ice crystals. Still, it's an interesting effect. Certainly had something to do with my initial gee whiz! response.

Is it free? It's included in the board plans for student athletes. So yes, to them, it's essentially free.

I think she's the page turner! Although, wouldn't a nighttime story by an actual badger be terrifying? Just the claws alone... If Reagan goes to school and tells stories of 2 giants coming into her room late at night to play & read stories... does her teacher believe her, or does she get in trouble for exaggerating? Dana Rettke as The BFG is now a thought I will always have. Thanks for that.

Personally, I am hoping to have a "Dana Rettke" button at my house. Change smoke detector battery - push the Dana button. Get the bug off the ceiling - push the button. Wash the outside windows without a ladder, yup, button. Turn on the nozzle for the outside hose bib (it's in the ceiling of the basement) - button. Get the suitcases off the top shelf of the closet without bringing everything else down at the same time - Dana Rettke button.
Although for most of those I think a Haleigh Nelson or Danielle Hart button would suffice.

How long are the cold seasons there? From my point of view, interminable. However, on average we can expect highs below freezing from early December until late Feb, then below 60 until mid april, Mid June we average 80 until mid Sept before going back down the ice hole.
