For now. Alvarez said he was open to doing so at the right time. I could think of some football and hockey greats who should receive that honor. Track and field / CC as well...although they don't really wear numbers, per se. Lauren will happen with time, particularly when she makes an appearance on the National Team in the Olympics. Agree. As much as we want to honor her NOW because we, as close followers of the program know everything she's done, I think the right thing to do is let her professional career progress and revisit this after she's been to an Olympics. If needed as a first step, we get her inducted into the Hall of Fame. It's not possible 'til 2027, but it'll be harder to argue against retiring her jersey if she's already in the HOF.

The B team had much better attackers, not a better setter. Didn't say she was a better setter. I said they did well with her setting, which begs the question of a 6-2. No it doesn’t. This makes no sense. You don’t run a 6-2 because your backup setter wins drills in practice. You run it because it gives the team the best chance to be successful. You do realize that most (if not all) of the competitive 6s drills they play in practice are weighted against the starters, right? It’s not uncommon for the starters to get their asses kicked in practice every day. That’s the point. You don’t want your starters crushing your B team.

If you read my whole statement rather than that one out of context quote, we actually agree, as we actually do on most things. You are manufacturing conflict!

The rest of your statement was not relevant to the idea, however, so I didn't include it. And we don't agree, because your original idea was that since Dixon was winning drills in practice more than Hilley, perhaps she should possibly be on the floor. I disagree.

Per prepvolleyball.com's 10 foot club: Liz Gregorski, 2019 top 100 recruit, touches 10'2". I am getting more excited about her potential in the front row.

I forgot she switched clubs, so that might be the issue. Sorry fans. I still wouldn't put it past Aird to pursue these athletes.

I generally don't like being that guy, but her Twitter account still says "Wisconsin Volleyball Commit 2020" She's not very active on social media at all - last activity was 6 months ago - but yeah, her social media bios still say that she's a future Badger. She's not listed on Munciana's master commitment list, which suggests to me that she simply wasn't added when she switched from CC where she was when she committed. My bet is that all the rosters and lists on their website pull from a single master player database, and her commitment info probably just isn't listed in the database.

If you read my whole statement rather than that one out of context quote, we actually agree, as we actually do on most things. You are manufacturing conflict! your original idea was that since Dixon was winning drills in practice more than Hilley, perhaps she should possibly be on the floor. I disagree. I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm trying to learn something. I asked a question, I did not propose a position. The question was predicated on three premises, about which we have incomplete knowledge: 1) the attack might be reasonably effective with Dixon setting because the hitters playing next year may be really good and Dixon may therefore be good enough, 2) Hilley was a very good attacker in HS and might be a good one in college, and 3) that having an extra attacker for three rotations might make the offense better if the costs of having Dixon set offset the gains of having Hilley as an extra attacker. I absolutely agree with you that a 6-2 is very unlikely, and that Hilley is a markedly better setter (based on what I've seen - which is little of Dixon) and Hilley will almost certainly set a 5-1 in some form next year. But lacking true inside knowledge, and with plenty of time on our hands, I like the idea of exploring the plusses and minuses of the 6-2 given current personnel. I've never followed a team that ran a 6-2, so I'm not sure what would have to be true to run it here. It seems like there are a lot of variables to consider. I don't presume to know how they play off each other even in a general sense, so I ask. And THAT is where we don't agree: whether or not it is worth talking about the pros and cons of alternate scenarios, even unlikely ones, that might play out precisely because we don't know what really is going on in practice, and because we want to learn something. And we're likely to see a 6-2 in spring at some point, because they played with 6-2 last year. It didn't look good then. I wonder if it will look better now.

Some folks just like to look superior.

I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm trying to learn something. I apologize. I wasn't trying to fight either. When you said, "begs the question of a 6-2" in response to learning that Dixon had a better record in practice, I didn't interpret that as you trying to learn something about 6-2s. In my opinion, there is very, very little about the fact that Dixon had a better record in practice that would serve as evidence that a 6-2 is something Wisconsin should consider because you have to also consider that 1) many/most/all competition drills are usually designed purposefully to be weighted against the starters, and 2) 3 of the 4 best attackers on the team were on Dixon's side of the net. There are many, many other reasons I believe a 6-2 would be a mistake.
