Anyone else think it was weird that Mica Alison was a top-10 recruit in our own backyard, and we didn’t get her? Why did Kevin pick Brown over her? Could Brown actually be better, and the senior ace rankings are wrong? Or did mica show up on the radar late in high school, which is why she’s at Auburn? For whatever reason Hambly didn't land most top Illinois girls during his tenure.

He must not have offered her.

Allison very possibly could’ve just not wanted to stay home. I wouldn’t necessarily ask why Hambly didn’t get her when a large part of recruiting is where the kid wants to play. I’m sure Hambly talked to her but ultimately it’s the players desiscion to not play somewhere.

I loosely remember hearing about this - but I believe Mica wanted more time to decide. Hambly needed to know sooner rather than later, otherwise he would've lost Brown.

If this whole Mica thing does come about that would be huge for Illinois. I think next year having a somewhat decent setter that can replace Poulter will make or break this team. Brown is a grood setter but we need atleast two legit options at the setting role.

Is there a scholarship available for Allison? Can't keep track of the math My assumption is that Poulter or Bastianelli will graduate at semester freeing up a scholarship for Allison. Mica forwent the second semester of her senior year in high school so she could start early at Auburn and be ready to set for Auburn when the fall season began. I suspect she will follow that same pattern at Illinois. Poulter is probably looking forward to playing professionally and/or joining the U.S. national team.

Are the rankings based on actual demonstrated performance at the time of the rankings or are they supposed to be predictive. If the former, I don't think they can really be "wrong." There's no way college success tracks the individual rankings, such that No. 10 is always going to be better than No. 20.

I thought they are meant to be predictive; like the #1 recruiter is meant to have the most predicted success in college.

I have heard one thing working in favor of Mica Allison returning to Champaign, Illinois, to play for the Illini. She will be a lot closer to her boyfriend who plays football for a college in Illinois. His college is only about two and a half hours drive from Champaign.

This year’s success will significantly enhance Tamas’ ability to recruit top players. We may not see the top 10 recruit results for a couple of years, but his kind of coaching and the team spirit he builds will bring them sooner rather than later. As for the transfers, none of the pins would have seen significant time, other than to let Prince rest her shoulder from time to time. And as much as I liked Tomazic, if she had stayed Fleming probably would not have transferred here, and I doubt we would now be in the final four. If Tamas actually gets Bruna and Mica Allison we could be right here again next year.

Is it too early to start the Mica Allison/ Bruna speculation? LOL!

It's official. Mica Allison is Illinois-bound. What do you do with two really good setters? 6-2?
