Isnt there another girl @ Illini Elite who is supposed to be a top recruit? I wonder if Tamas is recruiting her too There are two that I am aware of. Grace Cleveland of Normal is going to Purdue and Mica Allison of St. Thomas More is headed to Auburn.

Mica was actually offered though by the old staff.

So hometown girl Mica Allison is transferring from Auburn. Word on the transfer thread is that she will land at Illinois. I think it would be a perfect replacement for JP. Does Coach Tamas believe in a 6-2? I’m sure nothing will happen until after the NCAA’s are over

She ain’t coming to run a 6-2. Mica has Poulter like potential that I believe will be realized sooner rather than later! Brown is a very talented setter and she has a place on this team. The problem is that is that role enough to keep her around.

Many teams have tried and there just isn’t the same flow having a double sub every 3 rotations. Also constantly changing setters blocks the ability to get into rhythm and energy is difficult to maintain as well. Allison is big enough to play row and frankly I don’t think the Illini have 2 capable right sides. 6-2s are very risky the last successful team was penn state, however sterling stayed to hit the front row and Russ rose said that the reason for the 6-2 was for serving. I’m sure wherever mica grangers she will be setting a 5-1 I can’t think why someone would leave setting a 5-1 to sit on the bench half the time.

So are we taking bets on Mica Allison coming to ILLINOIS??

If both Bruna and Mica were coming in next year, I could see a 6-2 working, with Jackie and Bruna on the left and playing all around, and Beth and Megan coming in on the front row, right side, with Mica and Diana setting. Options would allow Mica to play all the way around at times (particularly depending on Beth's shoulder health). However, that leaves Illinois' roster DS-heavy. Total speculation and I think they have potentially successful options even without these potential newcomers. Having a lot more options is an upgrade to this year.

Florida made it all the way to the NCAA finals last year with a modified 6-2. If only they could have set Alhassan better, FL would have won a national title.

It was a modified 5-1 if anything.

Anyone else think it was weird that Mica Alison was a top-10 recruit in our own backyard, and we didn’t get her? Why did Kevin pick Brown over her? Could Brown actually be better, and the senior ace rankings are wrong? Or did mica show up on the radar late in high school, which is why she’s at Auburn?

It may be that Mica did not want to sit a year? It may be that she was not interested in the program at the time? When she was being recruited we were running a moonball offense, geared to the hitters at the time, but a moonball offense nonetheless. The offense at the time was not designed for a setter who wanted to set a fast offense with a lot of middle attacks. That has clearly changed. Also, our passers routinely ran a setter ragged. That also has changed.
