There are probably 100,000+ people working in athletic departments in America who would be more qualified than Lynn Swann to be an AD. But at many schools, USC almost certainly included, it's most important that you have someone who will please the wealthy jock-sniffing alumni who want to have chardonnay and brie with a sports celebrity, not a real administrator and manager. Only a complete twit would make a comment like that. You don't like SC, no problem, take your flabby a** to another topic. What a jerk! You are a complete twit. Or complete twit means intelligent. Like your flabby profane insult though

Incomplete twits are worse than complete twits.

Seems like they want a non-Mick direction. But regardless, is Nollan's HC track record good enough?

I agree, but he was at Long Beach for 5 years before Nebraska. So he has experience, not as much in the women's game. But it's clear he's taking the lead with this Nebraska team. Cook could be taking a nap most matches. That's not true. Cook is very heavy-handed in coaching the team, but he lets his ACs get in-game leadership experience because he believes in training them to be head coaches. He let Tamas and DBK lead in-game huddles as well. He knows that to attract the best ACs, is to attract coaches who habe big coaching aspirations, so he helps get them there. True, perhaps because Tyler has less experience than Tamas it felt different. I dunno. Fisher is a great coach....I wonder who Lynn Swann's dream women's volleyball coach is? ;-)

I'm not sure which part of my post drew your witty put-down, but I'll assume it's the suggestion that Swann was hired because he appealed to the jock-sniffing crowd. If you'd like to rebut that by listing his prior experience in any college, or even high-school athletic department, please do so.

Just tuned in and I'm dumbfounded.
Was Swann asked to do a review of all sports/results and make changes if necessary?

Maybe a Swann hires a bird. The Bird flew south. Which creates an opening for Mick.

The OP should change the thread title.
Mick Haley did NOT resign. He was fired on the day of the national championship match while he was out of town.
Disgraceful.

I am not totally surprised the U$C wants a change in their program. This is one of their premier teams and they expect to compete for national titles every years. Given their location and recruiting base that expectation isn't totally nuts. They probably felt rightly that they couldn't commit to Haley for another 5 years.
The manner of the firing was probably driven by the lawyers. I am sure that U$C wanted a friendly parting of the ways and would have been willing to let Haley resign. But once Haley starts to threaten litigation then the lawyers take over.
Haley has every right to sue. I have no idea if he was a case. But you can't both sue and expect a fond farewell.

Could be a 'surprise' hiring 3 lb names might surface Brent hilliard Tyler hildebrand And Misty May (with debbie green for the 1st year) You seem to be confused. This is the USC job being talked about, not Long Beach State.
