Hames is the new Shook with better defensive, worse blocking skills. 2 bad setters. That's a ridiculous assessment concerning Hames.

........can we get sun a more terminal attacker soon? Her back has got to be bothering her as she’s getting worse offensively.

Thoughts: So, here we are 1 match into the 2nd half of the B1G Season. Coach Cook is still working on player locations, but I like the idea of him moving Mikaela back to OH2. With Mikaela at OH2 and Lauren at MB1 (back with Nicklin), this should give those 2 the most time in the front row attacking - using averages. With Jazz and Lexi in the front row, you still have the threat of Mikaela from the back court. Even though Lauren has a great serve, I would still sub a DS for her when she moves to the back row. Lauren has proven to be a decent back court defender, but maybe not as good as our DS's -> unless she can serve an 'ace' each time! Nicklin's placement for Jazz sure improved the last match against tOSU, and needs to also for Lexi. Callie needs to work on making herself available, as you watch the other teams cheat to the pins with her in front. The same can be said with Nicklin using the 'setter dump' a little more to hold the opponent's middle. The Huskers probably won't host a Regional and may face a few more bumps along the way , but I think they will really have it together come tourny time - consistency when they are playing well, and finishing matches. And hopefully bar any injuries. I kind of feel sorry for the Team who's Regional the Huskers will be put in, but Nah, Not Really!

I feel the next two games are important for the Huskers; and then the rest should be winnable!

We have lost our way. I think leadership is lacking this year. We miss Kelly Hunter in more ways than one. We’re a young team. I think we’ll be improved next year but the year after that (2020) should be our year to shine. The whole 2019 team will be returning in 2020. That’s the year to be pointing to and the final four is in Omaha too

That’s the year to be pointing to and the final four is in Omaha too I think it's also important to accept that maybe being a top 5 team year in and year out is unrealistic. The talent is there and they still have potential, they're just losing the close games. They're not getting blown out and they're still a top 10 team. Just because they may not bring home a B1G or national championship doesn't mean it isn't still a successful year with some highlights. They haven't lost to anyone outside of the top 8 except Florida. They've gone 5 sets in 2 of them and they are still the only B1G team to take a set off Minnesota and have done so twice. They are right there in all of these games and if they can make a few adjustments they would be winning instead of losing. I'm not making excuses for them because they are still below those teams, my point is just that it is not by much. They still have some time and they've still done some really good things. Stanford in 2015 lost in the second round. PSU didn't get past the Sweet 16 for 2 straight years after taking the title in 2014. To expect a FF appearance and national championship year in and year out is only setting yourself up for disappointment. November hasn't even started. Still a long ways to go. Talking about 2019 and 2020 isn't fair to Mikaela Foecke and Kenzie Maloney, two girls that have helped take the Huskers to some serious peaks over the past 3 years. How spoiled we are when "losing our way" is still ranked in the top 10...

Someone needs to light a fire under Jazz Sweet. Or she needs to sit.

Is there any chance Cook would start Capri on the right to start a match? At this point I don't see how it would hurt to try.

Someone needs to light a fire under Jazz Sweet. Or she needs to sit. Nesh is the player that could do this. Unfortunately, that ankle injury must have been very serious.

How spoiled we are when "losing our way" is still ranked in the top 10... Very well said! How dare you temper expectations. It is totally fair to expect the Huskers to be good (even very good) year in and year out. They have excellent players, recruiting, coaches, facilities, and fan support that is second to none. That being said it is totally unrealistic to think that they are going to win a national championship every year. The quality of play in D1 (particularly in the B1G) is astonishingly high. Would I like it if the Huskers won 3-0 every match just like in the Big 8 days? Sure, but as a volleyball fan I love watching great players, systems, and coaches on the other side of the net - even if that means the Huskers lose from time to time. Thank God the game got away from setting the ball high outside to a big pin hitter 90% of the time - it was successful, but so very boring to watch.

Jazz was really good at tooling last year. She tooled an out-of-system swing to get to set point in Game 4 against Penn State in the Final Four. She was nails against Kentucky in the regional final.
For the last month, against teams that matter, she's been awful.
