She can make more money on the new tour as there'll be no competition. Just show up and win. Does she know what the tour specs are? Kind of strange to tie the rest if your career to kerri walshs right shoulder. Branaugh is at the end of her career. She may be a partner in the new tour. Worst case for her is probably getting good business experience she can use for the rest of her life

Kudos for putting her money where her mouth is, but I don't see this happening without her finding a way to wipe out the AVP and the exclusive contracts. Again.. who is going to play? So I am assuming she will somehow piggyback off the world series, NVL cluster and create the first asics fivb nvl kerri walsh nicole branaugh world series of long beach open. This is not an attempt to wipe out the AVP...It’s an attempt to grow the game...Give more of these college girls and future players other options. It appears they will attempt to attract top college talent...Not a bad strategy.

Will this be an international tour instead of just American? She may draw some interest in that respect of top players.

I wasn’t wondering the same thing....I think the cat was just let out of the bag. I’m sure details will follow...I don’t believe many of my fellow posters follow her Instagram or social media (at least not they are willing to admit) but this has been hinted at for the last several weeks. This has come to no ones surprise in the VB world, including Donald Suns. Why do you think the Amason announcement on 1st day of NCAA tourney?

Not sure how many college athletes just turning pro would choose a new tour over the AVP now. Especially with that Amazon deal. AVP looks stable at the very least, so it'd be a lot to turn that down for something that seems like a big question mark. The "Kerri Walsh" factor is a big plus for the new tour sure, but on its own I can't see it being enough.

#growthegame
My perception of this is not as rosy as Travis sees it.
Yeah, grow the game and sign right here so you can't play anywhere else. Yeah, grow the game while I boycott the only hope the sport has.
Poor beach fans are f**d as we get to watch #growtheavp get in a pissing contest with #growitmyway.
Smh.. none of this is good to #growthegame. Unable to work together, they are sabotaging the entire thing.
#growthefeud.

KWJ really hates the AVP.

Lets all go back to 2010 when the "doors were closed" . . . Our current "pessimism" should be tempered with a sport that was unprofitable since 1998 and now is, as wilsonthevolleyball2 says, "stable at the very least". Yeah, the AVP is solid and filling stadiums many times without the top tier athletes. I know nothing about the internals, but when we got those "two tourneys" back when the AVP started back up after '10, most of us fan's we lapping it up. All boats rise in high tide, but that water ain't in yet, my friends...but we can hope....

Isn’t it a little soon to be so critical of a potential new domestic tour coming to a town near you? Jeezzz....EVERYONE needs to relax....The AVP is NOT a tour...It has 8 events, one of which is an FIVB event....4 of which are in CA....This is NOT a tour....It’s a beautiful hobby as KWJ simply states. Why would anyone of us begrudge Kerri, LA, Al B for giving the USA more domestic events....How do we know if it’s not possible or sustainable?
As I said before, there is a reason why the AVP released their schedule as early as they did, there is a reason why Sun locked players into 4 year deals last year, there is a reason why the AVP announced the Amazon deal during the NCAA’s, there is a reason why Donald Sun did not pay Kerri Walsh the money he owed her....Maybe he was asking for war....Maybe he Will have the last laugh...Or just maybe Kerri will....I will go out on a limb and say Mr. Sun started this all in motion....
A few of this boards posters obvious hatred of Kerri Walsh is clouding their judgment..
There is enough room for Everyone! Let’s see how 2018 plays out!

Remember when Kerri took her ball and went home because of rule changes? Growing the game indeed. Remember how popular Indy Car was before the split and how it's nowhere near as popular now? There's a limited amount of sponsorship money. Sun locked in players because you NEED sponsors to know your events aren't going to go the way of the NVL. Do I wish there were more events this year? Of course. But there's a reason the NVL folded. Why would I throw big money on a new tour that doesn't have the best players? We're a niche sport. Best players need to be on one domestic tour.

All depends on the prize money. The players will go where they can make the best living. The question is, can KW bring in the sponsors better than the AVP does? I think that’s a real possibility.

The one thing that was a little weird to me was that she announced this to a group of high school athletes. She seemed to subtly mention the politics and many of the high school athletes wouldn't have a clue about them. I think she could have just announced the "tour" and been super positive about it as an option.
That said, I think involving the younger, college level is smart. A lot of these athletes wouldn't want to sign a four-year contract (as with the AVP) especially if they are athletes testing the waters of whether to continue with indoor or beach. It gives her the opportunity to draw from her target demographic and hopefully make a go at it over the next few years. Along with international competition (if that is the plan), her tour could potentially sustain itself. In a few short years, athletes who have signed an AVP contract may be willing to jump ship. Or who knows, AVP may have to adapt and change some things.
The international potential could also prove to be attractive to players. Playing against good international competition is big for many players. If FIBV and USAV become involved that of course could make a huge difference. Their support and endorsement would be huge.
I have no idea if KWJ wants to snuf out the AVP or if they both truly want to "grow the game".
