The one time I spoke with Karch, I addressed him as "Coach Kiraly". What's the proper response to "Get out of my way, you bozo"? Try getting out of the way.

I am an avid user and protector of using bro in place of libero. Especially when talking. Flows much better. Plus, I feel like it represents the mindset and demeanor of a lot of liberos. I’m probably in the minority, but that’s ok.

One of my biggest pet peeves is the use of first names (and only first names) of players and coaches. For example, even though I'm not a big fan of Karch Kiraly, I would always refer to him as either "Kiraly" or "Mr. Kiraly," not "Karch." I don't know him personally so I think it would be rude to call him by his first name. Having said that, I'm sure I may have used players' first names in some of my posts -- and I regret it. Won't happen again. At least no one is calling him KSquared. It's more like Serena or Lebron

Seemed to me that people just wanted to act like (or let you know) that they were / are on a first name basis with the movers and shakers in our sport. On a couple of occasions they looked at me in mild disbelief when I asked for clarification of who they meant.

Curious, what are the objections over “volleyball IQ”? Volleyballs don't have IQs.

At this point Karch is like Cher, Prince, or Bullwinkle. Are there any other volleyball coaches who are first name only? Jerritt and Russ you could probably get away with.

Curious, what are the objections over “volleyball IQ”? Volleyballs don't have IQs. To be fair, they know geometry better than most players.

"scholly" "natty" "mid-major" I don't even know what "natty" means. Honestly. Natural? Used to be slang for "stylish", being "dressed to the nines" (whatever "the nines" means). Has more recently been used, capitalized, to refer to the College Football National Championship ("the Natty"). This is the sort of thing that happens when people type with their thumbs.

How many volleyball folks are automatically recognizable by most volleyball fans by their first name alone? Karch, Mick, Logan, Foluke, Destinee, Court, Tama, any number of Brazilians...? In some cases, an uncommon first name ("Keegan") will be more recognizable than a common last name ("Cook").
