Wow - looking at AES and gold pool B in Atlanta was a battle. All three matches between TAV, A5-1s, and Rockwood Thunder went three sets and TAV wins the pool and a bid in a 25-23 one-set playoff. Yes... it was crazy!

Why did spvb switch to under armour Because Mizuno dropped them due to the ongoing saga of Rick Butler (SPVB co- owner). FYI he's been booted from AAU, JVA, and USAV.

Time to start leaning on UA, then?

Time to start leaning on UA, then? Yep... and our club uses them too.

Time to start leaning on UA, then? I don't believe UA sponsors them in any way. No matter your feelings towards Butler, the club should be allowed to purchase jerseys.

By the way, shutting that thread down is just going to cause RB conversations in other threads. I don't think that was a good move.

I didn't really understand the decision. There are other threads with nastier comments and insults.

To clarify I don't think this fix happens overnight and not starting with clubs going back to usav. It would start with something like clubs going to the tournament this weekend instead of Presidents' Day. The more clubs see good competition they don't normally see the more likely we see usav and jva clubs forming relationships. Still a long shot to completely mend that relationship with GL region clubs since the region is so piss poor and running anything, but having the best midwestern teams play the other great teams would be great by itself Totally agree, you will most likely start seeing midwestern clubs start playing other holiday weekend tourneys as other big teams from around the country stop showing up to any tourneys hosted at SPVB, and when that starts happening the conversation will grow. The relationship with the Great Lakes Region and the clubs that have already decided to split is basically irreparable at this point as long as the current leadership and any residual are still there I do not see those clubs putting forward much of an effort to return. In the end it will be the more powerful clubs that either help the region regain its integrity and control or just push them aside and watch them wait for the scraps that fall off the table they are now eating at.

By the way, shutting that thread down is just going to cause RB conversations in other threads. I don't think that was a good move. The conversation is inevitable, too many people are outraged by it and too many others are just finding out and want to either get in on the convo or learn more about the situation. Unfortunately the I think the mods were waiting for something of substance to happen to shut it down and when it did they felt it was a good time. In years past when the threads get locked they usually stay away from the front page until the following May/June when AAU would come around and everyone fighting the good fight would use that time frame to get the most exposure. This conversation is not going away any time soon this season.

This conversation is not going away any time soon this season. Should we start a fresh thread? Maybe title it "Rick Butler banned from USAV/AAU/JVA for sexual misconduct" and put quick links to all the key info (ban-related press releases, Sun-Times articles, love letters, etc.) in the lead post so that new folks can easily find it? As long as we keep the discussion respectful and don't go attacking each other, we can probably keep it open a while longer.
