I hope I'm not so bitter and make personal attacks against Aird when/if he would ever leave Indiana for Penn State - who could actually ever blame him if he did that? And Maryland to IU is not as equal as some think - brand new facility, sweet 16 some years back, firm commitment to volleyball, and a huge salary raise (even if he is making the same as he did at Maryland, it will go so much further in Bloomington). Maryland was atrocious before Aird, which a lot of folks seem to conveniently forget. Nobody has forgotten that, it has been mentioned many times. Regarding IU's storied NCAA history, 3 trips - 1999, 2002 and 2010. Maryland has been to the tourney 7 times since 1990 (6-7 overall). Also, Maryland was not atrocious until Kruger left after the 2007 season (8 20+ win seasons in her 20 years), IU with the exception of a couple of season has been "consistent". Do Isaiah Thomas and Calbert Cheaney's kids play volleyball? May need to wait for them to be college-aged for IU to get back to the Sweet 16.

Crouch left Portland after three years. Where’s the outrage or suspicion? Mendoza left High Point after two years. Schumacher-Cawley left Penn after one. Don’t see any posts suspicious of either. Gosh, I wonder why...? Really? Portland --> USC High Point --> South Carolina Penn --> Penn State Maryland --> Indiana One of these things is not like the others. The point was that those are three people that redbeard has failed to call out when the head coaches left earlier than the apparent 15-20 you need to stay at a school.

To bad Redbeard really didn't tell us what he was so upset about. Maybe their next coach will be even better. Just a thought.

I think Aird’s departure was weird and should be a concern to future recruits but it has nothing to do with number of years at the previous school.

It seems like people are just unwilling to believe that someone can form the opinion that University of Indiana is a better coaching job than the University of Maryland. Like it's a refusal in any way to see how Indiana might be a little bit better of a gig...
Better school, better volleyball location, better cost of living, better volleyball facility, better Athletic Department, probably better salary, better almost everything but they don't have a great volleyball history (as if Maryland's is any better by any significant margin)

Ok, so the anger doesn't have anything to do with the schools. So where's the anger in Crouch leaving Portland after 3 years, Mendoza leaving High Point after 2 years, and Schumacher-Cawley leaving Penn after 1 year? Is the problem most people have that he brought a lot of good recruits to a school not known for good results and then left them to go coach at a different school?

It's certainly debatable, and if pressed I'm not sure which I'd pick. But it is debatable. High Point/South Carolina, Portland/USC, Penn/Penn State are NOT debatable. So if another job opens up that's 2% better than Indiana, does Aird leave for that one as well? That's the tough part now for his recruiting in my opinion.
