Is elite the invite only and open is anyone? Elite are the power pools. They all make the top 32 bracket play. Open pools have to win to make the 8 bracket play spots up for grabs.

I was just wondering how teams GOT into the power pools....was THAT by invitation only from the triple crown to select clubs?

I was wondering about the selection process too, mainly how a new club like Drive Nation gets seeded so high.

No other qualifications? Do they have a spot yet for JO’s? They didn’t do anything last year as a club to justify getting a spot. I get why they theyre in, but that’s a pretty loose standard.

They've done pretty well at Tour of Texas and are in PrepVolleyball's new top 50 that came out in the past could of weeks. They were also one set away from qualifying. I don't think it's a bad selection. Skyline in the power pools is way more questionable. They really struggled at the Dallas qualifier, finishing 20th out of 24.

While I get this tournament is loaded with great teams and players...it couldnt possibly be in a worse place and at a worse time than right now. It's SLC in the middle of ski season. The flights and hotels are ridiculous at this time of year. It's gotta be costing close to 12K to send a team to this tournament and your not even playing for a bid.

Well they’re moving it next year for that very reason and the word is that the top SoCal clubs are bailing because it’s going to KC.

The tourney is scheduled to move to KC next year. I’m guessing that is still happening.

SLC is a nice city, flights were not at all ridiculous, nor was lodging. Spokane and Reno were much, much more. And remember, the vast majority of teams are never playing for a bid. They are playing to get better, dreaming of a bid maybe, but maybe 20% of the teams in any given tournament have a realistic shot, right?

I read they got bumped by the huge Western hunting show that will take up all the space next year at the same time the NIT has grown. Hotels are not horrible. Girls aren't staying in Park City. Flights are no worse than Indy or Spokane. No idea if anybody will bail due to the switch, but it does look like some 18s teams have already bailed because their qualifier season is well under way. I don't know where you are coming from, but this is this is the most expensive flight I've ever had for a volleyball tournament.
