I’m inept at posting links.
But, I guess Tyler is the new USAV Beach Coach director, based in Torrance, CA.
Nebraska has a hard time keeping assistants.

Nebraska has a hard time keeping assistants... ...because Nebraska assistants are in high demand.

Nebraska not only trains volleyball players they also trains assistant coaches for head coaching jobs.

I am disappointed in him after his speech about staying. So much for that.

I am disappointed in him after his speech about staying. So much for that. It's forgivable since this position didn't even exist when he made that statement. He turned down overtures from other schools looking for a head coach, but this is a different and huge opportunity.

Nebraska has a hard time keeping assistants. Cook's goal is clearly not to keep assistants; but rather to develop them into more. I think a more accurate description would be, "Nebraska has an easy time developing assistants who move onto better things."

www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=211701760 Congratulations to Tyler. Clearly, John Cook had a knack for finding and developing not only volleyball players but also volleyball coaches. In addition to Hildebrand, the previous 2 assistants, Chris Tamas and Dani Bussboom Kelly also moved on to stellar results as head coaches. Tamas to Illinois and a Sweet Sixteen appearance, and Kelly at Louisville with a league championship and the NCAA playoffs. So if you're an AC looking for a spring board to a great HC position, looks like working for John Cook at Nebraska is the place to go.

Isn't this kind of late to be moving on? He can't do both?

You succeed because of a combination of: 1. You're good (on our own), 2. You're lucky, 3. You land a sweet gig, e.g., Illinois. And it's not like Lousville is Pawtahanee Tech in Redneck, Mississippi, and most importantly, 4. You have great athletes and volleyball players on your team. Not because of great tutelage from Nebraska or John Cook.

Tyler was there for a year. How much developing did he do?
I think it was obvious from his comments that Cook was interested in learning what Tyler could teach him, while giving Tyler an opportunity to broaden his experience, skills, resume and opportunities. It was a mutually beneficial situation, and Cook deserves credit for being open to it.
