Ware has completed official visits to Nebraska, Texas, and Oregon. Supposedly, the other schools in contention are Minnesota and Iowa. I really hope she picks Minnesota!! Since she’s coming from the b-ball culture should we soon expect her to now announce her top 5 ?

She's pretty much beyond that point of announcing a Top 5 (she previously announced a Top 10 in early April) as she's already completed 3 official visits this summer. A few posters on here believe Minnesota will get an official visit. And, the Iowa hoops head coach was watching her play in a basketball tournament a couple of weekends ago, and so the Hawkeyes might still be in contention:

I don’t understand why some on here are going nuts about her recruitment because she’s a basketball player

True, but it's basically a 90/10 thing regarding her. She likes volleyball, but her passion is basketball. When you add the fact that most basketball coaches aren't excited about sharing a player when it's their sport's scholarship being used, especially in partially concurrent seasons, the likely conclusion is that she'll abandon volleyball early in her career.

I don’t understand why some on here are going nuts about her recruitment because she’s a basketball player So you figured out my real reason I want her to pick Minnesota. My thought is she does both for a year. Can solidify Minnesota’s number 1 recruiting class and then help their WBB team a lot.

She’s not even a top 100 volleyball player while her basketball prowess is elite on the high school level

Given that almost all the top 2020 players are committed, I think Minnesota's recruiting ranking is safe. It's almost 100% certain it'll be top 3, and has a higher likelihood of being #1 or #2.

I'd guess she'll be a top 40 player at worst, and maybe even in the top 20. She's highly regarded. Agree overall though. She's a basketball player who wants to give the dual sport thing a go, but will quickly drop volleyball.

I think I’m her case it’s based on potential. Did she play club vb at all?

If you want her to help the gopher basketball team, great, but bragging rights for the #1 recruiting class only for her to not play and quit after a year seems like a odd desire to have for your volleyball program.

Let's continue to discuss Lauren Ware even more since one poster is getting all bent out of shape about it.
She was the North Dakota Gatorade POY in BOTH volleyball and basketball as a junior. And, also for hoops as a sophomore. Regardless of how her collegiate career unfolds, good for her that she has so many options.

They may be the favorite, but I think far from settled: 1) Just looking at the top 3 recruits per team - there isn't a Lot of difference among at least 6 programs. 2) Adding a couple 'extra' recruits could push any number of these programs to the top. At this point, many have just 3 - while Minnesota has a 4th which will help. 3) There is always the possibility of a Junior enrolling early that can change the dynamic. This had a huge impact for BYU this year. 4) Someone could decommit their verbal - we have already had a couple players that may be in the top 10 make a switch in the past 6 months.
