Had the scare of my life last night....
Went to a food court for dinner, they have a nice cheap 小笼包 that is quite filling, and a restaurant that serves udon noodle. At any rate, we were waiting for our udon noodle when I started joking with wifey that I needed a cup of my favorite Hong Kong Ice Lemon Tea from across udon place. She really hates it when I order the Hong Kong Ice Lemon Tea because she thinks its too sweet. Well, DUH! That's why I like it. After I said it I turned around to take a look at the tea place and (GASP!) it was empty...cleared out. I told wifey, she turned to see and had the biggest smile on her face.
Went into depression, not knowing where I can get my favorite Hong Kong Ice Lemon Tea (actually, I do know because its a chain but this one in the food court is the closest to home) when I recognized one of the employees walking out of a back room in the food court. Watched her walk through the food court and to the entrance where I saw a bunch of containers that the ice tea place uses, and the big giveaway was the egg waffle maker. So they moved the store to the food court entrance and I walked right by it without noticing (mainly because I was focused on ordering my 小笼包 which is at the entrance too).
Pointed it out to wifey they had moved, and said I had to celebrate their moving with a cup of Hong Kong Ice Lemon Tea. Went to the new location, bought my tea...turns out they had just reopened the day before. Good timing on my part. The big kicker was I brought my tea back to our table, then I went to pick up my 小笼包. When I got back to the table, I noticed the straw was in the cup and a portion has already been consumed. Wifey, who would not want me to drink the Hong Kong Ice Lemon Tea, was enjoying my tea. At the end of dinner she still complained the Hong Kong Ice Lemon Tea was too sweet.

Today I went to a Thai restaurant with some people from work. I ordered a dish with tofu. I was immediately asked if I minded that the dish contained eggs. If you order tofu in the US, people tend to assume maybe you are vegetarian.
Or do they only assume that if it's an anglo person that orders the tofu?

Burger King in China is terrible!
Burger itself isn’t bad, but:
1. They’re 25% more expensive than McDonalds 2. They won’t let you swap items
For example, tonight I ordered a double whopper and I wanted to swap out the fries for their onion rings. NO, not allowed. I can spend RMB5 to get 5 pcs of onion rings, but cannot swap out the fries for o-rings. Ironically, the BK at another location allowed me to swap it out.
For breakfast, wanted to swap out the coffee for Coke. NO! Not allowed. Have to buy the sandwich and Coke separately.
In the meantime, McDonalds lets you mix and match.
3. Every BK I have been to has very slow service.
Right now it seems like BK is expanding fast in China, but not sure if it will pay off because service is terrible and they’re inflexible with the menu items unlike their competitors.

Wolfgang XasstCoach went to mall food court. His favorite ice-tea vendor moved 50' from their prior location. He got a tea. His wife drank some of it. Sweet! I do not believe I have ever been in a restaurant that offered "parmesan peppercorn" as a salad dressing. However, they almost all offer some form of oil and vinegar. I just googled it, and I see that yes, it is a thing. But still, as I said, I've never heard a restaurant offer it.
