I don't think the Celts are getting enough credit for one of the biggest choke jobs in sports history. Scared much?

Those same teams met three years in a row and the combined record is 11-6. The one the Cleveland won was as close as could be, 4-3. Golden State also had the best record in the regular season all three years. I think it's clear that Cleveland was somewhat lucky to have won one of those years. I'm not arguing that Cleveland has been the better team the last three years. I just hate hearing they got lucky because Draymond was out for one game. Those same people fail to make the same comment regarding Irving and Love being out the year before giving the Warriors a much easier chance to win. Wasn't just Draymond Green, but also Igoudala and Bogut injured that series. Also - Curry's mobility was limited. The strange thing about Love and Irving being out is that the Cavs played better defense with them out.

Golden State has been probably the most talented team since the Lakers in the 80's. If they lose this year, 2 championships in 4 years will be underachieving considering their talent. They not only have had great starters but a great bench as well. This is the first season that their bench is a little thin, a result of acquiring Durant. They were down 15 in the first quarter last night, and would have lost that game if Paul was playing. Again Cleveland was the better team in 15. they lost the finals 4-2 without Kyrie and Love. They were less iso heavy to start the game with Paul out. There's really no way of knowing what the dynamic would be. Besides that, nearly all the analysts following that game were thinking their crazy 3 point shooting was unsustainable.

They choked when the pressure was on. Game 7 at home and you shoot 17.9% (7 of 39) on 3s on your home court where you should be most comfortable shooting? You win the rebounding edge and have more steals so you have more possessions and you shoot overall 34% and your 3 guards are a combined 8 of 42 (19%) and you have the home crowd advantage. Little bit of a choke.

79 points. At home. Boston choked. I think Lue is underrated as a coach. I think he has a very good grasp on player rest/management and the big picture. He put anybody and everybody who was a liability on defense on the bench and left his best 5-6 defenders on the court for 40+ minutes. It's not anything you could do in the regular season, but a game seven--absolutely. The other problem--Boston didn't have a 'go-to' player. For better or worse, great NBA teams are defined by the star on the court. Cleveland had James. Who'd Boston have? Next year--it'll be a different story. Teams get knocked around before they have success and Boston is young and gets its injured stars back. They've got a great coach and have 1-2 more years of good cap space and they've got a ton of draft picks still. I don't think Cleveland will last against either West opponent. Cleveland has one 'star' and Houston and the GSW have multiple stars--that's going to be the difference.

You know, LeBron's first of eight straight trips to the Finals.

I'll define it for you. When the pressure affects their performance to such a degree that they basically hand the game to the other team.

Chris Paul is out. Tough break for Houston and more luck for GSW. Lets see if Harden can play like the MVP.

Anyway, it sort of evens things up. Harden will now have to have a big game. GSW can probably get away with one to their stars having a subpar game, but not two.
