The U.S. Supreme Court has struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, you know the fancy-named 'law' that prevents us heathens from (gasp) making wagers on sporting events. It's why the First Church of the NCAA has never allowed their oh-so-holy tournament games to be played in Las Vegas (even though there are NCAA schools there and many NCAA conferences very successfully hold their conference tournaments there). HERE's the STORYSo, for the love of all that is decent, can we try just once to have the tournament in a nice weather December climate like in Vegas....instead of Columbus or Oklahoma City or Nebraska or East Outer Bumbf--k? Please.

If Vegas sucks for you, you're either going to the wrong places or going with the wrong people.

Why have a site that lacks attendance such as west coast and the south?? NCAA know if they hold tournaments in Midwest (ie: Neb, Minn & Kan) for example they will be well attended regardless of climate. Big10 teams travel....

Or will the NCAA leverage fear of losing tournament hosting (College Football Championship, Final Four, etc.) and lobby states from legalizing sports betting?

NCAA isn't going to give in that easily, but at the moment I think this just adds sports gambling to NJ.
They are saying up to 32 states could add sports betting in 3-5 years. If that happens, I can't see them holding every event in Pierre, South Dakota, but this still has a ways to go to see how it all unfolds.

If Vegas sucks for you, you're either going to the wrong places or going with the wrong people. I travelled to several different countries before going to vegas. People were always surprised at that (especially during my time at USC), that I had never been to Vegas before given how close it was. Volleyball actually brought me to Vegas for the first time, so that was kind of interesting. I think Vegas is a cool city, but could definitely understand why people wouldn't enjoy it. I'm not a drinker really (past college days say otherwise) and I tend to have an addictive personality, so I stay clear from gambling. I don't really care to go to Vegas vs. other destination spots, say Miami, NYC, LA, the Bay, etc.. But I would DEFINITELY rather see the NCAA's in Vegas vs. Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Omaha, Anchorage, Toronto , etc...

IMHO only way the final 4 ends up in vegas is if Vegas is killed by this...and is willing to match incentives to host.
Remember, cities "Bid" to host these events--the NCAA selects the best "packages".

Not a good choice, IMO.

Looks like local bookies need to polish their resumes.
And yes, Vegas is garbage.
