Whose seasons will be lost? It seems it will only be SPRI teams that lose out. The top teams in the area have moved on. For all the comments about how club is about paying for good coaching and practice time, I cannot imagine parents continuing to send their kids and money to a club 95% of the volleyball community has decided to abandon. And not sure how/who would buy/invest in a club that has a $5,000,000.00 active lawsuit. As long as that drags on, any potential buyer/investor would likely have to address that. A "Grand Venue" that accumulates legend and memories for a community is a valuable thing. That's what's lost. As to a lawsuit attached to the club, I have no idea about that, but if it's lien against the facility , or an obstacle to a sale-- ya, throw that on the tragedy pile. Tragedies beg a hero but a martyr will do. Otherwise, it's just a plain ol' catastrophe. Sorry but I'm just extra angry there is a wonderful community of conscientious, exuberant young athletes whose lives shouldn't be affected by this shtuff. The "Grand Venue" as you call it is home base to a banned coach, who continues to coach in that home base. (at least he is listed as co-director of the SPVB coaches clinic - greatlakescenter.com/wp-content/uploads/coaches-clinic-2019.pdf). Does anyone else see his refusal to adhere to governing bodies of the sport he "loves" as bogus? If nothing else, it shows an arrogance as though he believes he is above it all. RE: the lawsuit - www.chicagolawbulletin.com/archives/2018/02/27/rick-butler-volleyball-class-action-2-27-18/mullen-v-butler - You make a point that I feel is important in that you seem unaware of the depths of RB history (apologies if I am wrong in that assessment). It has often been commented in this, and other threads, that 'everyone' knew/knows about his past and SPRI, and that 'all' volleyball parents should have been aware for a long time. I have no problem saying I had no clue until October of 2017. Our club didn't play GLPL till 15s, so it wasn't on my radar. Thankfully, in this, her 15 season, we will not be attending a single SPVB event. And from what I can tell from AES, not many clubs in the country will be attending any SPVB events either. Does the boycott of SPVB hurt some in the volleyball community? Sure. But to blame anyone other then RB/CB themselves for refusing to step away is ludicrous. Volleyball will most definitely survive. Colleges will most definitely still recruit the region. Players will most definitely still get excellent coaching. Life will go on...

I want someone who can afford it to pay him to go away so your daughter can play in a fantastic league in a nice facility run by nice people, not chase all around town for the next several years. Or don't pay him and create a new, equally nice facility really really fast.

It seems that massive boycott of all things SPRI by the vast majority of the volleyball community, that feeling is widespread. regardless of my personal feelings though, the courts would not allow the sale of assets during an active lawsuit.

Happy New Year @four ! Afa anybody feeling bad - or sorry - about GLC/ SPVB/ RB/ CB/ et al, this could have been Entirely avoided: IF Rick had been a decent human being, coach, role model & mentor; instead of a serial sexual rapist-sadist who could Not keep his pants, nor his morality/ethics, zipped tight. Move On spribots. The game's over! It's hard to believe that some of the posters on this thread are actually adults. "spribots", really! Do you mean the people who are actually involved with the SPRI program on a day to day basis? Possibly the former alums who played there in the 80's & 90's and now have their kids playing there? The thing that seems to be a given with this thread is that none of you actually have any information that's remotely factual. Looking at the SPRI facebook page, they seem to be doing just fine. And no, I am not RB or CB.

That is what happens when a coach threatens your life if you tell anyone. You become obsessed with correcting the wrong and I would like to ask everyone else to help too. Please do not ever support anything a banned coach is involved with EVER!

Curious if anyone was out at GLVB this past weekend for start of GLPL play? AES shows some 15 teams did very well, even against some 18s. Also looks like they are playing best of 5. Is/was that the norm for GLPL?

Is/was that the norm for GLPL? I was! Rick Butler cloned himself 12x and was on every single court watching all the girls and daring you all to report him. If you don't believe me you can ask anyone. It really happened. LOL J/K. Was on a college visit in AZ this weekend with my former VBer. However there is a whole thread floating around here where no one answered the question. Not sure why a parent who spent time in their first post reportedly calling all sorts of gyms about Rick Butler couldn't make the call to all the gyms playing in GLPL to find out how this weekend went. I mean if you're THAT curious. ^^ you seem to have all the pertinent club information and a lot of time to waste. SPRI's number probably hasn't changed and I'm sure the others are all listed online. Why don't you get back to us when you are done?

It was best of 5 last year for 17/18 open. Also heard it was pretty dead as far as amount of teams. Not sure how the overall level of competition was.
