Given their poor showing at Huntington and Jake's injury, allowing Taylor to experiment with new partners to great success, do they make it through this season? A poor showing in NY will definitely not help but you gotta think Taylor is seriously considering Chase at some point, before Tokyo for certain assuming Chase sticks with this.

well, Chase's current partner has more points than Taylor on the AVP. I don't see Chase leaving Sean this year, he can learn more with Sean.
However, I wouldn't mind Jake coaching Chase starting next year.

Yes think chase and Rosie are together for this season at least if not longer I don't think they will break up now but if Chase wants to get to the Olympics, wouldn't you say Taylor is the much better option? I certainly would.

Yes but I don't think that will be chases decision to make. Taylor will have his pick at players not named phil

I don't think Taylor should be focused on Theo or Chase, both are just a means to an end. The guy he should be looking at is Phil. Taylor is already better than Nick and that gap is only going to increase. Nick is steady, but thats about it and Taylor needs to show Phil how much better he is and that means contending on the FIVB.
I dont see Jake as being good enough for that, so its probably Theo unless Chase proves something very quickly. If I were Taylor, I would think about playing with Theo now, but keeping an eye on Chase. Then if Chase keeps improving look for him next year, but Phil should be the ultimate goal.

I wholly agree that Taylor > Nick right now but I just don't see Phil dumping Nick short of a massive falloff over the next year. Would it be the best US men's pairing? Heck yes but I will be surprised if Phil dumps Nick again short of something serious.

Maybe that's arranging to fly out to FL to practice with Phil/Nick with whoever his partner is or being very aggressive when the 38 year old Nick inevitably misses a few events with injuries or just lobbying Phil when he can. I dont know what Phil wants to do long term but I think Phil/Taylor is probably a 2-3 FIVB wins and 3-4 AVPs better than Nick/Phil over the next 2.5 years. Friendship is one thing but thats a lot of money to leave on the table

I'm sure after this season, He and Nick will map out goals and I'm not sure planning 2 years for 1 tournament is at the top of that list.

He also did say they don’t plan on flying out for just one tournament. They’ll try to group them together, unless that has changed since the Sandcast episode. Olympics qualifications start later this year so we’ll know then?
