scarletknights.com/news/2018/5/29/womens-volleyball-volleyball-introduces-four-newcomers-to-2018-roster.aspxThe first line reads... "Rutgers volleyball and head coach CJ Werneke continue to bring world-class talent "To the Banks" as four international student-athletes join the Scarlet Knights for the 2018 season." Well, no, they don't "continue" to but it certainly seems that they are starting to, and lets congratulate them for that. . I couldn't find video of the Russians but the German looks good. Merle Weidt - And yes, that is two middles, and to use them they still need to get somebody to pass the ball... details, details, details. They haven't had this much talent (4 players) in years. AND that's not all. Look at the schedule! scarletknights.com/schedule.aspx?path=wvballThey open with Chicago State at Cal, following weekend they get Coppin, Lehigh, Lafayette, and Rider in the same weekend! Then with these four recruits they could be favored to beat Navy and Holy Cross. That could be 7 wins this fall. If they get a break or two this could easily be the best season since joining the Big 10.

Here's a video of the 2016 CEV U19 final match where Russia beat Serbia 3-0. Russia's starting setter, Inna Balyko, is one of the new Rutgers recruits. She was named the tournament's top setter. Pretty impressive get.

Gotta wonder how much Anna Khrystenko, the assistant coach, has to do with all this International recruiting? Seems like a lot of those recruits and roster come from her neck of the woods.

I mean, I haven't even watched the video yet, but I imagine a 20 yo who was "Best Setter" at U19 Euros has to be equivalent to at least a Top 25 Senior Ace. At least.

What a HORRIBLE move to bring Rutgers and Maryland into the conference. Both schools are in over their heads in ALL sports. I don't care that they are near New York and Washington DC. It is not worth the mediocrity they bring which taints the conference. Rutgers football is an absolute disaster for the Big 10.

I think this was the idea when they brought her in. Clearly they didn't get anybody like this before her so I would guess this is all her.

They also play both Maryland and Indiana twice - could they win one?
