I was looking at the Amazon reviews. For this event there are 7 positive and 13 negative so far.
Positive reviews seem very similar, extremely pithy. If you click on the reviewer's name, it shows you how many other things they have reviewed. Of the 7 positive reviews - 6 have never reviewed anything else.
So despite never having reviewed something before, they were moved to sign in and write stuff like "Huge AVP fan. Love the coverage. Much more reliable than watching on facebook" and "10/10 coverage!! Huge S/O to Amazon & the AVP for taking this sport to the next level!" (Those are two complete reviews)
Of the 13 who gave negative reviews, most offer detailed reviews of what they actually liked or didn't. All but 1 of the negative reviewers have also reviewed other things besides the AVP. Perhaps that means that a certain type of person tends to be critical, but given that reviews were shut off for the Austin event due to irregularities.........

Of course, Day 1 coverage no longer viewable. Hopefully a kindhearted person uploads to YouTube.

I feel like they may be trying to address some of the complaints by cutting away more often to the matches on the outer courts, but they keep cutting away from interesting center court matches to loser's bracket matches between teams that are not going to contend in this tournament. And I say that as someone who enjoys women's matches - but I'd rather watch April and Alex in a third than Sheila Shaw and Dykstra. This may be a function of the producers and announcers just not knowing anything about the sport, like which teams are relevant or (apparently) when a match is a big upset or when a match up is particularly interesting or that there are multiple Brittanys (just wait until they try to sort out all the Kellys). As far as court 3 goes, I don't think they have a camera there. I think the coverage is only stadium and courts 1 and 2. If they were smart, they would put the more interesting match ups on the courts where they do have cameras, but apparently that's too much to ask. (To be fair, I think this problem extends to the AVP's scheduling, not just the Amazon Prime coverage. Last year I remember many cases of fascinating match ups stuck on untelevised outer courts while some obvious blow-out was featured on center.) For the 8,765th time, FIVB has magically discovered the availability of webcams at ALL courts, AVP isn't doing this solely because Amazon is paying for rights and want people to watch their feed. It's not in the fans' best interest, Sun sold you out. The FIVB doesn't have cameras in every court. In Itapema, they didn't have a camera on court 5. Still, they are doing better than Amazon.

Barnett has already messed up the players names two or three times in the first hour of coverage. C'mon man

Unbelievable - great first set between Ricardo/Casey and now they decide to go to side court women matches for 15 minutes instead of showing the 2nd...

Go back to stadium court at 11:11 for one play and then decide to show a women’s interview instead.

There is very clearly a bias in coverage towards women's play, why else switch out of men's coverage unless it's match point on other court. I won't watch a minute of women's coverage which makes this even more infuriating, stick with your match in front of you.

Kevin Barnett did one of his stupid game interviews (asking people to guess movie titles) with Rich Heiles, the East End tournament director, and Wayne Gant, who runs GAV, with no idea who they were. Not quite a "scaffolding Klay" moment, but anyone who has played tournaments anywhere on the East Coast knows Rich. Definitely a missed opportunity to talk about the relationship between grassroots volleyball and the AVP or all the players who have made the AVP after starting with EEVB and other local tours, including Phil, Nick, Zaun, all the Florida players.

I watched a lot of coverage today. It wasn't so bad, maybe its growing on me. The guest announcers(people that actually know beach volleyball) make a huge difference. My gripes are still not being able to fast forward when not watching live and obviously not having the choice of courts. I actually think Barnett is doing a pretty good job, those have to be long days

So the only credential I need to announce volleyball is a photo of me playing volleyball. Good to know. Maybe Amazon will hire me for next season 🤦♂️

Maybe Amazon will hire me for next season 🤦♂️ "I haven't seen her play enough to know if thats normal for her." Said about Summer Ross. The expert commentator has not seen the US' no. 2 player play enough to say if she has changed an important part of her game. How is that possible? Ignorance is one thing but not doing simple background stuff like watching previous matches is unprofessional
