Could there be any resentment from the players who have been there the whole time she was gone? They've been training, working everyday without having to be away from the game to realize they love it. Now Karsta just walks back in and I'm assuming will (eventually) be starting again. Some have to work hard for it, some are just talented, there's a big difference. Karsta is just good, and the current are not up to par in my opinion. There's no such thing as "I work hard so I deserve it." I don't care how hard you work, if you're not performing...you need to take a seat.

Is crazy. Are you really working hard? Spending time getting extra reps? Coming early to practice and leaving leaving late...asking for extra video and actually applying it? I digress...If they all have the same goal it shouldn’t matter where KL stands or not. So many sports have the person who needs time off and comes back better than ever. Don’t punish the person bc they needed time. Embrace them. Learn from them. And enjoy their overall presence. She may not be the best in the end. But THATS NOT THE END GAME. She’s making an effort and each human has a path. If any of the other players felt as you said “resentment “ they should reevaluate their work. Because they are not ready to be challenged. Resentment is a ugly hurdle against progress.

Doesn't he have a counsel of player leadership? I would assume he would have spoken to some of those team members before allowing her to come back into the gym.

It's nice that she will be coming back. I'll get flamed from Bruins fans for saying this, but let's keep things in perspective rather than set up sky high expectations. She's been away from the game for a while, she is likely a little...rusty. She's gonna need some time in the gym to get herself back up to form. We won't be seeing her immediately in the USA uniform just yet, she will have to earn her spot back, probably the earliest we'll be seeing her is...Pan American games? I mean I think she gets a bit of a pass. She was sort of thrown onto the roster really fast and all of a sudden it was rio time. I recall her having errors, which i would attribute to her needing more time. What saves it for me is that I also vividly remember plays where she was set a high ball to bail the team out on some out of system plays. When has Murphy ever been able to score that way? Also has more of an arm. So as far as potential goes I'm a fan I'm not saying she doesn't deserved her accolades, I'm just saying she is not going to be the "old Karsta" you saw at Rio just yet. She's gonna need some time to "get back into the game", so some tempering of expectations should be in order.

How about the opposites that were dismissed from the program? Karch was willing to cut Fawcett from the program entirely, but two years later, is still apparently looking for opposite options? Why was she not allowed to stay and compete if Karsta was allowed to quit and return? Hell, they even rolled out the red carpet with a special press release for her. Hooker was abused mentally and physically by her ex-husband, and the staff kicks her off the team. Six years later, a survivor of domestic abuse isn't even granted an invite to TRAIN? And how would Larson/team leadership have been involved when she rejoined the program at the beginning of May -- the same time the rest of the pros joined the group for VNL practices?

That doesn't happen to every team, but it does happen often enough. In an ideal world, where the interest of the team overall always comes first, we won't encounter such an issue, but we don't live in an ideal world. Would be naive not to expect it I suppose.

I didn't say anything about one deserves to start because she works hard. I do think there is a dynamic of team and togetherness that is void for someone who misses an entire year to pursue other opportunities.
