I think Hanna will do fine her freshman year. She will not be asked to product a “potent” offense since she will not be the go to player.
If she plays OH, she will be rely on to pass, play solid D and occasionally take swings to keep the defense honest. If she plays OPP, she will be counted on to provide a bigger block on the RS, take a few swings from the right and maybe even be in the passing rotation and free up Jolie to focus on her hitting.
She provides options for Robyn and allows for the coaches to mix and match and find the best team to put on the floor .
I still feel we are one experienced MB away from being a really potent team. Our returning middles have not really separated themselves and our incoming middles are still young. If we can land an experienced MB with our last scholarship, it will take a lot of pressure off Jolie and not having to face a double block all the time. Westerberg has promise but she will not be here until July so essentially, she and Norene will have two months to get in sync.

I always felt a solid junior/senior transfer outside with Div I was the last piece to really elevate this team.

I always felt a solid junior/senior transfer outside with Div I was the last piece to really elevate this team. Don't get me wrong...getting Jolie Rasmussen from Oregon have just made us better and elevated us up a few notches but great teams do not rely on only one player...See Santa Barbara and Lindsay Ruddins. A great middle will do so much to help out our offense. Just image someone like Maglio was playing with someone like Rasmussen??? Would be hard to double team Rasmussen and leave Maglio alone without paying a price. RIght now....nobody is going to be worry about Skyler Williams or Kamalei Krug. Teams on our schedules are now finding ways to stop Jolie and she will be the focus of our opponents. If we can get a experienced MB, then it will give Norene options. Hope Westerberg can come in and be that player. Like Igiede and her offensive potential but I feel she needs time to get use to the speed of D1 level play. Williams did OK in the off season and Kamalei did not play at all. Our MB position really do need help.

I’m wondering if Hellvig will exceed my expectations. She seems to be the incoming recruit that the staff and media are hyping the most Hype? Not so much. I think more so....excitement. The anticipation for the 2019 season is incredible, the depth that we have at the pins is going to be extraordinary. We will definitely see Westerberg and Hellvig make names for themselves for sure, and so is Rasmussen. I can't wait to see who will win the battle at libero.

Helvig's built reminds me of Samantha Bricio's built. 6'2, slim, long. Hopefully, Helvig can play like Bricio. Judging from her 2019 play with the Swedish National team, Hellvig seems to struggle with producing a potent offense. There was a game where she produced double digit kills vs Estonia I believe. Her offense and serving will be good but doubtful it will match Bricio. Hellvig’s service receive and defense look more promising than Bricio. Hellvig indeed has the Bricio build and the same basketball rim hops. Side note: Also wondering if Hellvig’s team mate Sofia Andersson could be the rumored foreign setter recruit I think Andersson has been announced by Örebro Volley (one of the best teams in the Swedish league) for next season. I remember watching part of that match vs. Estonia, Isabelle Haak was not available back then and therefore Hellvig played OPP. She wasn't on the roster for the recent European League matches with the indoor national team. But Sweden is the host for the U20 Beach Volleyball European Championships at the end of this month, Hellvig is supposed to participate in that competition as far as i know.

Was Hanna taken off the roster because she was not good enough or she was removed to give others a chance since Hanna would be leaving for Hawaii in a couple of months anyway? Sometimes teams will remove a player since they won’t be there so to give others who will be there the much needed reps. Regardless, I think Hanna will start someplace for Hawaii. Either OPP or OH would be great.

Very anxious for the season to start. I'm hoping this year we'll finally have 2 above average Outside Hitters. I feel like the last time we had that was Danielson and Croson during Danielson's Senior season.

If we can even remotely be as good as that team I’ll be more than happy

I can't wait to see who will win the battle at libero. What battle? Hanawahine is on scholarship and started the spring match. It says a lot that Ah Mow would give a scholarship to someone who barely sniffed the court in her previous college (14 matches in 2 years), when she could have given it to McKenna Ross or Rika Okino, who've both seen significant playing time and are more familiar with her system, or even Janelle Gong.

Where did you gather that she was on an athletic Scholarship? Hawaii issued a press release for her signing, typically means she's on a scholarship. It's been reported that Hawaii only has one scholarship to give.

I could have sworn we only have one left with hanawahine not on scholarship but upon adding it up, it looks like she is on one.
