How do out-of-state UH students get to campus from the airport anyway? Is there an airport-to-Manoa shuttle that drops you off at the campus for, like, $40? Or, for UH wvb athletes who are flying into Honolulu for the first time, do the coaches pick them up personally?

There is a free Rainbow shuttle service that commutes between UH and campus housing, nearby neighborhoods and to off campus parking locations. Out of State students will Uber to and from the airport. I'm guessing incoming UH athletes probably get rides from the airport by their assigned hosts who are fellow jocks or jockettes.

If a coach picked her up, they probably went straight to Zippy's or Big City Diner for lunch.

I'm pretty sure the coaches or maybe the DOO or somebody associated with the volleyball program picked her up. You want the kid to get a nice warm welcome and not forced to find her away around a strange place on her first day here.
Some girls could volunteer to help. It would have been nice to have somebody like Natasha Burns pick her up and talk about Canada and stuff. Much easier to "break the ice" if a fellow Canuck is there to help.
I'm sure Angelica will be the one who will pick up Hanna Hellvig.

Wow this is amazing the girls are arriving. I'm sure I saw Westerberg and her family today shopping around Ko'Olina today! I'm not so sure on approaching her she seemed to be pretty relaxed.

I've never heard of Ko'olina. Of course, Kapolei didn't even exist while I was there. Anyway, I would've gone straight to Ala Moana for my shopping needs.

Have you not known what she looks like all this time... I did and then I didn't. Retention issues. I don’t know about the retention issues because i’d never forget a face like that! Is it just me or does Tiff look more like a model than a volleyball player?

I know they can't fly, they can walk, but it may take them about two or three hours to walk to UH. O don't think they can swim to UH, unless they swim to Waikiki beach, than jump into the Ala wai and swim as far as they can go and walk the rest of the way, but at that time, they'll be stink and be smellin like "S". I would think and make a bet that they would most likely ride in a vehicle.

I'm sure Westerberg is getting a ride with her family. Nice to send a family send off for her. Wondering will we be seeing her family at the games this season?

This thread has slowly but surely become one of the most annoying threads to read on volleytalk.
Can we keep this thread to the discussion about VOLELYBALL, new news etc.
Thanks a bunch

Can we keep this thread to the discussion about VOLELYBALL, new news etc. Thanks a bunch While I agree that some of the discussion is annoying, we're still about 6 weeks away from two-a-days. There are not many volleyball-specific things to talk about at this point (that hasn't already been discussed). If not for random discussion, this thread would sit idle for weeks. Perhaps instead of complaining, you find something worthwhile to post on this thread.

I don't post random nonsense. Im fine with discussions regarding starting lineups, potential matchups etc, but certain posters just constantly go off the rails when it comes to this thread and when compared to the Nebraska, Stanford and Wisconsin threads, are thread just looks messy. Im just used to seeing Hawaii threads be clean and imformative, thats all.

Some of these posts are irrelevant and make us Wahine Volleyball Fans seem rather obsessive and downright creepy! I just hope that our recruits don’t come here and get freaked out by some of this and decide to transfer elsewhere.

You're right, certain posters do go off the rails and yes, they are annoying (they definitely annoy me) but unless they're breaking board rules, we can't really silence them. I concur that compared to some of the other threads on VT, this Hawai'i thread does look messy but it's been that way for a while. Once we get closer to the season, I expect this thread to clean itself up.
