Congrats to Ah Mow, Iosia, and our stellar freshman. Was hoping Williams could sneak in too. Does HM mean they can’t become All-Americans? It would be weird for a Sweet 16 team with just one All-American nominee. Btw, I’m rooting for Iosia to make All-American as well, but so crazy she’s making these lists with very reduced statistics. I love she’s getting the recognition she deserves tho. I believe HM's can become AA. No. In the past the could be eligible for AA HM status, but i believe the entire commitee would have to agree on it for it to happen. With the AA list being trimmed down, doubt that will happen.

Congratulations to Coach Ah Mow, Iosia, Hellvig, and Igiede for being AVCA All-American All-Region honorees: Norene Iosia, All-Region (Pacific North) Hanna Hellvig, All-Region (Pacific North), Honorable Mention Amber Idiede, All-Region (Pacific North), Honorable Mention Robyn Ah Mow, All-Region (Pacific North), Coach of the Year www.avca.org/awards/all-regional-all-america-awards/division-i-region.htmlSo it’s much easier to ask the resident Wahine historians than researching myself online. When was the last time Hawaii had two or more freshmen with AA regional honors? How many times has it been done? Never. This is the first time.

With the AA list being trimmed down, doubt that will happen. Bummer. Igiede has All-America numbers... well. If that's the case I guess Iosia is a shoe in for All-America! No way the committee overlooks Hawaii with at least a Sweet 16 finish. Hellvig too if her hitting percentage was higher.

The awards for the Hawaii women’s volleyball team continue to pile up. Today, Robyn Ah Mow was named the AVCA Pacific North Region Coach of the Year and senior setter-hitter Norene Iosia was one of 14 players on the all-region first team. The Rainbow Wahine also had two freshmen among the six named honorable mention in hitter Hanna Hellvig and middle Amber Igiede. Hawaii had no selections last year. Ah Mow is in her third season as coach of her alma mater. The former Wahine All-American setter was named the Big West Coach of the Year earlier this season. Hawaii is 26-3, the most wins since 2015, and has advanced to the NCAA tournament third round for the first time also since 2015. The Wahine also won the Big West title for the first time since 2016, the first under Ah Mow, when finishing 14-2. The Big West also had Cal Poly junior opposite Maia Dvoracek on the Pacific North first team and UC Santa Barbara senior hitter Lindsey Ruddins on the Pacific South first team for a third consecutive year. Two players with Hawaii ties also were honored today. Freshman setter Lexis Akeo (Kamehameha) from Pitt was first-team East Coast and sophomore setter Jhenna Gabriel (Maryknoll) from Texas first-team Southwest. First-team selections are eligible for All-America and regional coaches are considered for national coach of the year.

I'm so happy that the whole team is going and that the girls from the colder climates won't miss their winter weather this year.

Dozens bid Aloha to the UH Women's Volleyball team ahead of Sweet 16 actionTuesday, December 10th 2019, 3:06 PM HST by Brandi HigaThe UH Women's Volleyball team had its send off Tuesday afternoon as they head to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. The UH Women's Volleyball team left campus Tuesday afternoon. The 12th seeded Rainbow Wahine have advanced to Regionals of this year's NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament. Dozens of fans, students, and the UH Baseball team showed up to see them off outside the Stan Sheriff Center. Some of the band and the cheerleaders were also there to show support from the university. The Rainbow Wahine take on a 5th ranked Nebraska team that was last year's runner up of the tournament losing to Stanford in the championship match. Ahead of this week's road-trip UH head coach Robyn Ah Mow discussed the development her team has mad throughout the season so far. "They all grew. Looking back at them after a win this weekend (I said) 'just wow'. This team, on the court off the court, plus with Jolie (Rasmussen) coming back, it's full circle," said Ah Mow. This Friday's match between the 5th seeded Huskers and Rainbow Wahine is set for 11:30a.m. HST and it will be broadcast on ESPN3. Ticket information for this week's matches in Wisconsin can be found here.

UH has a fighting chance against Nebraska. With it being in Madison on a neutral court will give Hawaii the advantage as most of the fans there are probably going to be cheering for Hawaii. Hawaii just needs to be wary of the block cause Nebraska is a tough blocking team but as far as offensive range goes they match the firepower.

They can be unstoppable. Hopefully Knuckles and Sun continue their inconsistencies in receiving.
